'''Maera''' (Japanese: {{hover|マイラ|Maira}} ''Maira'') was a scion of the [[Lopt Empire]]'s royal family who lived around [[Timeline of Archanea, Valentia and Jugdral|Grann 535]], and the founder of the "Maerist" branch of the [[Loptyrians|Loptyrian]] religion. While he was responsible for the [[Holy Blood|lineage]] of [[Loptous (character)|Loptous]] persisting past the Lopt Empire's downfall, in his time he was widely regarded as a saint for his work in caring for the people in the face of the Empire's tyranny.

Maera was the brother of the Emperor [[Galle (Genealogy of the Holy War)|Galle]] of the time, inheriting only minor Loptous [[Holy Blood]] instead of the major blood of his brother, the human host of Loptous. In stark contrast to the dictatorial attitudes of his brother and the entire rest of the Empire, Maera came to legitimately care for the people of [[Jugdral]] suffering under the Empire's rule. To this end, he sought to redefine the Loptyrian faith to make it more appealing and less of a jarring shift than its present state.  He attempted to harmonize the Loptyrian faith with the pre-existing religions of Jugdral and present Loptous not as a tyrant, but as a benevolent deity, and to end the discrimination against non-Loptyrian people. From this, the "Maerist Loptyrian" variation of the Loptyrian faith was established; as it was forbidden, its practitioners were persecuted and driven into hiding, while still seeking to help the commoners of Jugdral in the face of their bleak future. The Maerist influence had a profound influence on [[Bragi]] of the [[Twelve Crusaders]], who was saved by and subsequently raised by a Maerist as a child. For his part, Maera still reproduced at some point in his exile, passing on his minor Loptous holy blood to his child; his descendants eventually came to reside in the Spirit Forest of [[Verdane]], isolated from the outside world.
