The first Branded
The first Branded
The era of the sleeping goddesses began peacefully, with the foundation of the Kingdom of Begnion as a place where both laguz and beorc could co-exist in the year -131. Altina became the kingdom's first queen and took Lehran as both her husband and an advisor. Four years into the kingdom's life, Altina became pregnant, the first known time that a laguz-beorc couple had ever conceived a child together. Her friends Dheginsea and Soan believed that the child would become a symbol of peace between the two races, but after the child was born, Lehran lost all of his laguz abilities. This news horrified both Lehran, who was shattered by the loss of his very identity, and Dheginsea, who believed that this development would harm relations between the two races. Altina's own name also became the surname of her descendants (for example, "Sanaki Kirsch Altina"), although very few in Begnion were ever aware of the full names of their apostles or of Altina's presence in their names.<ref>{{Cite|Sephiran: There is one who yet shares both bloodline and name–the true heir of Altina.<br>Ike: Who is it?<br>Sephiran: Sanaki Kirsch Altina... Altina has a voice-acted speaking role in a flashback of the opening of the fourth part of the Part 4 Endgame, when Micaiah/Yune receives a vision of the bargain she and Lehran made with Ashera to spare Yune. Additionally, an illustration of Altina, Soan and Dheginsea fighting is used as the background for the default title screen of Radiant Dawn, although after clearing the game it alternates with an image of Ashunera and the Zunanma.

Role
There are three different variations of Altina available to Heroes. The normal variation of Altina is the game's seventh Mythic Hero, and as such was added to the game in a dedicated Mythic Hero update, and was made available for summoning as part of a summoning event released on November 28, 2019. A winter variation of Altina was made available on December 17, 2020 as part of the summoning event surrounding the launch of the A Festival Miracle update; this variation is a Harmonized Hero, carrying a dual-credit with Path of Radiance as a result of being paired up with that game's Sanaki. A version of Altina themed to the Nabata desert was added to the game on January 19, 2024, and was first available to summon from then to February 19, 2024.

Trivia
* Despite being added as a playable character in Heroes in 2019, Altina could not be voted for in the 2020 running of Choose Your Legends; she was first made an option in the 2021 poll.
** Altina is the only such character made available as a candidate in Choose Your Legends; on the contrary, Ullr, Elimine, Mark, and Fomortiis have not been the candidates since their introduction in Heroes.
* In Part III, Chapter&nbsp;11 of Radiant Dawn, Sanaki tells Ike that the Ragnell "was used by Empress Altina, the first apostle of Begnion." However, during the time of Altina, Begnion was still a kingdom, so neither was Altina an empress nor Begnion an empire. Additionally, Altina herself was not an apostle; Begnion's first apostle was her granddaughter. The correct history of Begnion can be read from Lethe and Jill's B support in Path of Radiance.
