(Japanese: {{hover|バイロン|Bairon}} ''Vylon'') was the Duke of [[Grannvale]]'s House [[Chalphy]] until Grann 760, and the father of [[Sigurd]] and [[Ethlyn]].

Highly renowned as both a politician and a warrior, Vylon served with [[Ring]] of [[Jungby]] as a direct advisor and confidante to Prince [[Kurth]]. At some point during his life, he somehow drew the ire of Duke [[Langobalt]] of [[Dozel]], whose utter hatred for Vylon and the Chalphy family as a whole would drive him in later years.<ref>{{Cite|'''Sigurd:''' You're too much, Lex... haha. At the onset of the war with [[Isaach]] in Grann 757, Vylon accompanied Kurth on the war's front lines as his right-hand man.  Under their leadership, Grannvale won the war, but on the return trip the two were assaulted by Langobalt, who assassinated Kurth; Vylon survived but was severely injured and [[Tyrfing]] was broken, and he fled the scene and disappeared for a time afterward.<ref>{{Cite|Well, Lord Vylon was always seen at Prince Kurth's side. There's suspicion that your father committed the murder.|[[Claud]]|Genealogy of the Holy War}}</ref>  Langobalt and [[Reptor]], with [[Arvis]]'s assistance, successfully framed Vylon and Sigurd for the conspiracy to kill Kurth, prompting Sigurd to seek refuge in [[Silesse]].

Vylon reappeared near the Silesse border in Grann 760, seeking to deliver Tyrfing's remains to Sigurd.  He was sighted by Langobalt's subordinate [[Slayder (Genealogy of the Holy War)|Slayder]] at Lubeck Castle, their base in preparation to assault Silesse to apprehend Sigurd, who in response ordered an all-out assault to kill him before he could reach Sigurd.  Upon reaching Sigurd, he handed over Tyrfing and told him of Langobalt and Reptor's role in Kurth's death, then died from his wounds.

Vylon acts as a partner unit in [[Doorway to Destiny|Chapter 5]], appearing between Zaxon and Lubeck Castles.  He will seek to talk to [[Sigurd]] to give him [[Tyrfing]] in its [[Broken Sword]] state, dying after doing so; if for whatever reason the player fails to talk to him with Sigurd and he survives, he will disappear from the map when Lubeck is seized and Sigurd will not receive Tyrfing.

==Personality and character==

Vylon was an honorable and wise man, highly respected by his peers (aside from Reptor and Langobalt); Kurth valued his advice immensely, seeking it above all else on many matters.<ref>{{Cite|I believe they're put off by the way Prince Kurth goes to Lord Vylon for everything.|[[Filat]]|Genealogy of the Holy War}}</ref>  For his part, Vylon was always highly concerned about Kurth's welfare and that of the [[Belhalla]] royal family as a whole, particularly in light of the potential risk of the lineage dying if anything happened to Kurth.<ref>{{Cite|I'm glad to hear His Highness made it through alright.
