“ | Let 'em come! At least we don't have to waste our time going to them. | ” | — Larcei |
---|
Larcei (Japanese: ラクチェ Lakche) is a princess of Isaach, the cousin of Crown Prince Shannan and one of the twin children of the presumed late Princess Ayra. Born during Ayra's travels with Sigurd of Chalphy, at age two she was escorted into hiding by Oifey and his elder cousin Shannan, along with her twin brother Scáthach and Sigurd's son Seliph. Seventeen years later, she was part of the beginning of Seliph's revolution against the tyranny of the Grannvale Empire.
In the gameplay of Genealogy of the Holy War, if Ayra was not married in the course of the first generation, Larcei's role is filled by Creidne.
Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War
Role
When Scáthach brought news back to Tirnanog of the occupying Dozel army's imminent march on the town, Larcei was strongly in favor of marching out to fight back despite the absence of Shannan and Oifey. Despite Scáthach's misgivings, Seliph opted to do so, starting his revolution.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Unit performance
Larcei is a level 1 Myrmidon available from the beginning of the second generation. Larcei will always inherit minor Od Holy Blood from her mother, increasing her skill and HP growth rates, as well as Astra and Nihil; additionally, she will have Follow-Up as a class skill from Myrmidon and Follow-Up and Adept as class skills from Swordmaster. In general, Larcei will have strong combat regardless of who her father is.
Larcei will usually have high speed and strength, and will be able to deal significant damage to, if not one-round, many enemies in Chapter 6 and in the arena. Larcei can one-round most enemies in the game when Astra activates; Astra activates based on the user's skill, which Od blood gives a growth boost to. Larcei will always have a sword level of A, allowing her to use every sword in the game at base except the holy weapons, such as Balmung.
Larcei and her brother Scáthach are very similar units, both unmounted sword users with good combat. They have similar stats, will always inherit the same skills, and have the same A-rank in swords. Scáthach promotes to Forrest, Larcei promotes to the slightly better Swordmaster, gaining three points more skill and speed, equal gains in every other stat, and Adept.
Larcei lacks a mount, which the maps in Genealogy of the Holy War strongly favor; every map is very large, and the road tiles that boost the movement of units moving across them benefit high-move cavalry more. Larcei's lack of a mount is less severe at the start of Chapter 6, when all four initially available units—including Larcei—are unmounted, and can gain a lead to the first castle over the first mounted units, which join on turn 3. However, later in the game when the player gains access to more mounted units—when units such as Seliph promote or such as Finn join—and Larcei is not afforded time to gain a lead on them, Larcei will be able to contribute less; even later in Chapter 6, the first mounted units will be able to catch up and surpass Larcei on the way to castles after the first.
Parentage influences
There is no pairing that will significantly strengthen Larcei at the cost of Scáthach, or vice versa. Both gain Follow-Up from their class, and each will inherit the same skills and mostly the same Holy Blood bonuses. Scáthach can gain major Forseti or Bragi Holy Blood, but the pairings required to get those grant lower strength growths, and Scáthach's class does not allow him to use either associated holy weapon. On the other had, Larcei has the slight advantage of inheriting her mother's items, while Scáthach inherits his father's; a number of good fathers can use swords, but some—particularly Lex—cannot, limiting the swords Scáthach can inherit from those fathers to a mere four obtained from villages or defeating bosses; the Armorslayer in Ch2 village, the Wing Clipper in Ch3 village, Jacobi's Bolt Sword and Chagall's Silver Blade..
Lex passes down minor Nál Holy Blood, Vantage, and Paragon. Nál Holy Blood increases Larcei's HP and defense growths, making her tougher to kill. Vantage is situationally useful in battles against large numbers of enemies; it can also allow Larcei to attack first in the arena, but she is usually fast enough to do that regardless. Paragon lets Larcei gain levels faster and promote sooner; with Paragon, Larcei would not need the Paragon Ring and would thus have more gold available for other things, such as repairing weapons or giving gold to a lover who does need the Paragon Ring, which is particularly helpful for the experience ranking. Lex cannot be next to Ayra without slowing down and limiting his contributions; however, he does have an event with her in Chapter 3 available from the start of the chapter that grants her the only Brave Sword available in the first generation and grants love points between the two, making the pairing easier. Additionally, Lex cannot purchase swords to pass down to Scáthach and must instead kill enemies that drop them; enemies whom Lex usually has weapon triangle disadvantage against.
Chulainn passes down minor Od Holy Blood; combined with Ayra's minor Od blood, this grants Larcei and Scáthach major Od blood, granting a greater boost to their skill and HP growths. Major Od blood also grants ★ sword level; through a glitch that allows Balmung to appear in the armory, Larcei can purchase and wield Balmung. If the player is unwilling to use exploits, the ★-rank will not benefit either child. Both children also gain Luna, further improving their combat; only one of Luna and Astra can activate at once, however. Chulainn has the same movement as Ayra and can easily reach the required love point threshold; additionally, Chulainn has an event in Chapter 3 available from the start which gives Ayra the Brave Sword and grants a number of love points between the two—this event is mutually exclusive with Lex's version of the event, so only one brave sword can be obtained and only one pair can gain the love points.
Another option is Naoise, who passes down Accost and Critical; this further improves Larcei's combat by giving her an additional way to attack more than once and a potential increase in damage. Critical can be made redundant by using a sword with a kill bonus, which will grant the same effect, though Critical can activate with any weapon, not just one with a kill bonus. Jamke similarly passes down Accost, but he passes Adept instead of Critical. The effect of the Brave Sword prevents Adept from activating, which is a situational limitation. Additionally, Larcei will gain Adept upon promotion regardless of her father. Naoise—like Lex—is a mounted unit, and has to slow down and limit his contributions in order to pair off with Ayra, but he can purchase swords to pass down to Scáthach; alternately, Jamke has the the same movement as Ayra and does not cost the opportunity of a stronger unit's contribution, but he can only pass down swords dropped by enemies he defeats.
Fire Emblem Awakening
Larcei is playable as a SpotPass character, released in the Genealogy of the Holy War second-generation character set. She is also present as an enemy in the first and third installments of the Lost Bloodlines DLC series.

Personality and character
Larcei is headstrong and courageous, willing to risk her life in battle. She dedicates herself to improving her swordplay, often sparring with fellow members of Seliph's army. She is interested in fighting Shannan, whom she respects as a great warrior and the wielder of the legendary sword Balmung. Larcei compares herself to him frequently—to her, if she can defeat him, then she is a good fighter, but if she cannot, then she is inferior.[2][3]
Larcei dislikes being treated like a child despite her young age. She believes in her abilities as a sword fighter and wants to fight people to prove herself.[4][5] She is determined and resolute, always willing to improve; she finds it necessary to keep proving her worth, because otherwise people will not allow her to fight in Seliph's army.[6]
Larcei used to wish for a legendary weapon like Balmung, but upon understanding the responsibilities that come with it, her dreams of wielding such a sword subsided.[7] Larcei, while stubborn, will accept life lessons and grow more mature.
Larcei has insecurities about feeling needed.[8] She hates being unwanted, and experiences longing toward her mother, believing she is still alive.[9] Aside from improving her swordplay, Larcei aims to help Seliph and Shannan bring Isaach back to how it should be.[10] The reason Larcei learned how to use a sword, other than wanting to follow Ayra's footsteps, was to make sure she could help Seliph and Shannan liberate Isaach and restore the old order.
Love growths and events
|

- In Chapter 7, Larcei can talk to Shannan at any time, granting Larcei +2 Strength and both of them 100 love points with each other.
- In Chapter 7, if Finn was Larcei's father, he can talk to Larcei at any time after Dahna has been conquered, granting her +5 Skill.
- In the Final Chapter, if they are lovers, Larcei can talk to Seliph, Iuchar, Iucharba or Shannan after Dozel has been seized, giving them +3 Strength.
