Corrin: Siegbert, I see you reading that book all the time. What is it?
Siegbert: Hello, Corrin. It's a collection of paintings by one of my favorite artists.
Corrin: Oh really? May I take a look? A wheat field at harvest time... A calm ocean... You're a fan of scenery paintings, I take it?
Siegbert: I am, though I like most all paintings, really. I tend to take to looking at these paintings in particular after a long battle. They're...calming, somehow. They help me to relax.
Corrin: I think I can see why.
Siegbert: You're more than welcome to borrow the book, if you'd like.
Corrin: That'd be wonderful! Are you sure you won't miss it?
Siegbert: Not at all—I have a decent collection of others that I can look at in the meantime.
Corrin: Then I'll take you up on your kind offer. Thank you!
Siegbert: The pleasure is all mine.
Corrin: This does have me wondering, though... Do you ever paint your own paintings?
Siegbert: It's...just a hobby. Growing up, I received instruction in all of the various arts.
Corrin: Talented with a brush and a sword... You're definitely Xander's son.
Siegbert: My father did make sure that my tutors covered a wide range of subjects. I do my best to show him that I appreciate the balanced education.
Corrin: You have nothing to worry about there, Siegbert.
Siegbert: Thank you, Corrin.

Siegbert: Hrmmm...
Corrin: Ah, Siegbert! There you are. I wanted to return the book I borrowed the other day.
Siegbert: Oh! How did you like it?
Corrin: It was lovely! Each picture was prettier than the last.
Siegbert: If you liked that one, I'm sure you'll enjoy some of the others I have. I'll bring them by sometime.
Corrin: Thank you! I'd love to see them.
Siegbert: ...
Corrin: Is something wrong, Siegbert? You seem to be a bit preoccupied.
Siegbert: Ah, I apologize. I've just found myself consumed by some things lately.
Corrin: You know that I'm always available to talk, if you need to.
Siegbert: That's very kind of you... Perhaps I could take you up on that offer? Right now?
Corrin: Certainly!
Siegbert: Do you think I am of any use here?
Corrin: What do you mean?
Siegbert: I'm worried that I am not living up to my potential, as my father's son. On second thought, forget I said anything. I won't fix anything by whining. Any time I spend worrying would be much better used working toward a solution. I'm sure that's what my father does, so I should follow his example...
Corrin: Siegbert, sometimes it's good to stop and worry for a little bit.
Siegbert: But I'm sure my father never lets his issues slow him down...
Corrin: Knowing Xander, that could very well be true, but... You are not your father, Siegbert. You don't have to be exactly like him. Why not take time to worry over things?
Siegbert: Are you sure?
Corrin: I'm positive.
Siegbert: Thank you. It's...comforting to hear someone say that. This is the first time I've ever talked about my worries with anyone. There's something about you that makes it easier, Corrin. I'm glad we met.

Siegbert: Pardon me, Corrin. Could I have a moment of your time?
Corrin: Sure. What do you need?
Siegbert: Well... Hah, this is requiring a bit more courage than I thought...
Corrin: The way you say that makes me worry...
Siegbert: I'm sorry! I didn't mean to! *whew* All right. You just...have to promise me you won't laugh.
Corrin: Now why would I ever laugh at you, Siegbert?
Siegbert: I don't know, Corrin! I'm not used to showing weakness in front of others... I wanted to...show you this...
Corrin: A...picture? It certainly has a lot of character. Is this something you drew yourself?
Siegbert: ...Yes. But I'm a little ashamed with how it turned out. I thought though, since you enjoyed the book I shared with you... You might like to see one of my drawings, sort of inspired by it.
Corrin: This is everyone sitting around a bonfire, right? I think it's pretty charming, really.
Siegbert: Do you really?! I feel like I can't draw the way I really want to yet...
Corrin: Just looking at this picture, I can feel warm feelings bubbling up inside me.
Siegbert: You're too kind, Corrin. Thank you. Talking to you really helps, you know? I already feel like it's not such a bad thing to show my weaknesses to other people. I've been very focused on living up to my father's greatness. Knowing that I'll be king someday, I want to do everything to make Father proud.
Corrin: Siegbert...
Siegbert: But I realize, just like you said, that I don't need to be like him. Your words have really lifted my spirits. So, even though it's a very early picture... I wanted you to see what I can do. I wanted you to see me as I am.
Corrin: Thank you.
Siegbert: Corrin, I hope that I can continue to be vulnerable with you. I would really appreciate it.
Corrin: Of course. I'm here for you, Siegbert, in any way you need me.
Siegbert: Thanks.

Corrin: Oh, hello there, Siegbert! Are you drawing?
Siegbert: What the—! Corrin?!
Corrin: I'm sorry! I didn't mean to scare you.
Siegbert: Oh, no! It's OK, you didn't scare me. At least, not too much! It's just...you either have the best or the worst possible timing. I'm not sure...
Corrin: What do you mean? Is everything all right?
Siegbert: Oh, everything's perfect! Don't mind me!
Corrin: Wait... Is that a picture of me you've got there?
Siegbert: Y-yeah, it is... I just finished it, actually.
Corrin: Awww, you drew us holding hands.
Siegbert: I was trying to decide when the best time to give it to you would be. It seems like Fate decided for me, though!
Corrin: Oh, you drew this for me?
Siegbert: Yes. Will you accept it?
Corrin: Of course!
Siegbert: I've named this drawing, too.
Corrin: You've already given it a title? What is it?
Siegbert: It's called..."Stronger Together." You know, Corrin, I actually drew this because of something I wanted to ask you. I see how much you've made me a better person, and...I want us to be together.
Corrin: What?!
Siegbert: Corrin, I want to be by your side, holding your hand just like in this picture. That's what I kept in mind as I drew this.
Corrin: Oh, Siegbert...
Siegbert: I...I love you with all my heart!
Corrin: Oh!
Siegbert: Just like in this picture, I think we can make each other stronger in real life. What do you say?
Corrin: Hmm... This picture... There's one small thing missing. Can I borrow your pencil?
Siegbert: Of course.
Corrin: I'm just going to add a little bit to this picture. Here...and here...and this...
Siegbert: Now we're...surrounded by smiling stick figures?
Corrin: I'm not great at drawing people. But I want a relationship where everyone around us is happy, too. Not just us.
Siegbert: Oh, Corrin! If that's your only concern, then consider it done!
Corrin: That's a promise now, Siegbert. I'll hold you to it!
Siegbert: Of course. I'd never break my word.

(Confession Scene)
Siegbert: I'm still full of shortcomings, but someday, I promise I'll be a man who deserves your company. I can do anything if it's for you, my love.

Siegbert: Mother... So this is where you were.
Corrin: Ah, Siegbert. How are things...?
Siegbert: You seem tired. Is everything OK?
Corrin: Fine and dandy. I've been busy lately, it's true, and more than a little fatigued, but...
Siegbert: I see... Mother, I think I know the perfect way to help us both!
Corrin: Oh? Now I'm curious.
Siegbert: I'd like to give you a shoulder massage.
Corrin: Much as I'd appreciate that, I don't see how you stand to benefit.
Siegbert: Like you, I've been feeling some aches and pains. One of the healers here showed me some pressure points to relieve the pain, but I can't really find the spots when I try to massage myself. If I could practice on your shoulders, you could tell me when I find the spots.
Corrin: Haha! This plan sounds...convoluted, but now I have to know if it will work.
Siegbert: Excellent! Thank you, Mother. Here, try and relax...
Corrin: Aahhh... You're very skilled, Siegbert. I don't feel nearly as sore as I did. Thank you. Is there anything I can do for you in return?
Siegbert: No need for concern, Mother. I'm the one who should be thanking you. Now that I know where to apply pressure, my pain will be a thing of the past.
Corrin: Tee hee hee. Yes, that's right. But thank you anyway, Siegbert.

Siegbert: Ugh…
Corrin: Is something wrong with your neck, Siegbert? You keep touching it.
Siegbert: It's nothing, Mother. Don't worry about it.
Corrin: Here, let me give you a massage. It's the least I can do to repay you.
Siegbert: I'm fine, really! I don't want to be seen like this.
Corrin: Haha, who's here to see? Let your mother take care of you, Siegbert.
Siegbert: *sigh* Fine...
Corrin: My goodness, dear, these are some serious knots. Is there anything you want to talk about?
Siegbert: Nothing you need to worry about— I'm sure I can handle things on my own.
Corrin: How sure are you?
Siegbert: Well... Lately I find myself lost in thought a lot. I can't help thinking that I'm not strong enough yet. Or wondering if I have what it takes to protect the people.
Corrin: I might worry too, if I was as inexperienced as you. It can be daunting to see those stronger than you and know you don't measure up.
Siegbert: Mother, you aren't really helping...
Corrin: But instead of being intimidated, you should welcome it as a chance to learn. There's so much to see in the world... You've encountered only a fraction of it. Diligent work and a steady struggle will surely make you a man.
Siegbert: Diligence and struggle...these things will make me stronger? Thank you, Mother. I feel a bit better already.
Corrin: I'm glad I could help. Both with your neck and with your worries...

A Support

Siegbert: Mother, have you got some free time?
Corrin: Absolutely, Siegbert. What do you need?
Siegbert: Well, I'd like to give you another shoulder massage.
Corrin: So soon? Feeling a bit rusty, are we?
Siegbert: N-no, of course not! I just wanted to repay you for the advice you offered me the other day.
Corrin: So it did help?
Siegbert: Very much so. I've been able to apply that open-mindedness to several situations. I've learned from villagers what it is to live diligently. And from my comrades, I've learned what it's like to face strong enemies... I've witnessed all different kinds of strength from the people I've encountered. And I've become acutely aware of my own shortcomings. But now, instead of grinding to a stop when I find a fault in myself... I want to push forward and overcome the obstacle.
Corrin: That's very mature of you, Siegbert. I'm impressed.
Siegbert: I'm sure I'll still find things to be worried about... But that's also a necessary waypoint on the path to growing stronger... For now, I think I'll puff out my chest and brood a little, like Father.
Corrin: Whatever suits you best!

Siegbert: I'd like to give you a shoulder massage.

Felicia: Are you certain of that?
Siegbert: Well... Lately I find myself lost in thought a lot. I can't help thinking that I'm not strong enough yet. Or wondering if I have what it takes to protect the people.
Felicia: It's true... You'll meet many people stronger than you in this world. You're not yet old enough to have their wealth of experience and knowledge. It's frustrating to meet such people and see how far you have to go...
Siegbert: Mother, you aren't really helping...
Felicia: But you should take these meetings as a cue to learn from those people. That's what youth is about, Siegbert: learning all that you can from your elders. Worries and hardship are important growing opportunities!
Siegbert: Worry and hardship... These things will make me stronger. Thank you, Mother. I feel a bit better already.
Felicia: I'm glad to have helped. If what vexes you ever brings you pain again, I'm happy to massage you anytime!

Siegbert: N-no, of course not! I just wanted to repay you for the advice you offered me the other day.
Felicia: Oh, but that won't be necessary! I'm happy enough that it sunk in.

Siegbert: Mother... So this is where you were.
Mozu: Hm...? Oh, it's you, Siegbert.
Siegbert: You seem tired. Is everything OK?
Mozu: Oh, yeah, I'm all right. Don't worry about me. They've just been running me ragged lately, that's all.
Siegbert: I see... Mother, I think I know the perfect way to help us both!
Mozu: Help? Help how?
Siegbert: I'd like to give you a shoulder massage.
Mozu: I don't follow how that'd help you.
Siegbert: Like you, I've been feeling some aches and pains. One of the healers here showed me some pressure points to relieve the pain, but I can't really find the spots when I try to massage myself. If I could practice on your shoulders, you could tell me when I find the spots.
Mozu: Well, isn't that sweet! When you ask nicely like that, I've gotta say yes.
Siegbert: Excellent! Thank you, Mother. Here, try and relax...
Mozu: Aahhh... I feel light as a feather! Thanks a bunch, Siegbert. Want me to take a crack at your back too?
Siegbert: No need for concern, Mother. I'm the one who should be thanking you. Now that I know where to apply pressure, my pain will be a thing of the past.
Mozu: Ooh, right. Guess you can do it yourself now, huh? Well, thanks all the same! I really appreciate it.

B Support

Siegbert: Ugh…
Mozu: What's the matter? Got a crick in your neck again?
Siegbert: It's nothing, Mother. Don't worry about it.
Mozu: Horsefeathers! How can I help if I don't worry about it?
Siegbert: I'm fine, really! I don't want to be seen like this.
Mozu: What's so embarrassing about a mother taking care of her son?
Siegbert: *sigh* Fine...
Mozu: Whoo-ee, these are some powerful knots in your back. You don't get this gnarled without something on the mind. What's eating you?
Siegbert: Nothing you need to worry about— I'm sure I can handle things on my own.
Mozu: That's not what it looks like from here...
Siegbert: Well... Lately I find myself lost in thought a lot. I can't help thinking that I'm not strong enough yet. Or wondering if I have what it takes to protect the people.
Mozu: Well... It's a big world out there. You're far from the top dog in it. I know the feeling—I remember the day I was saved from those monsters. I owed my life to all those big, strong people who did what I couldn't... It wasn't a relief. It just drove home how weak and small I was.
Siegbert: Mother, you aren't really helping...
Mozu: But I made up my mind that day to learn to fight just as good as them. 'Cause it's not a bad thing to be weak and small. Not if you know it. Sometimes, it's the hard lessons that help you grow the most, you know?
Siegbert: The hard lessons... They're what will make me stronger. Thank you, Mother. I feel a bit better already.
Mozu: No fooling? Good to hear it. And if you ever worry yourself raw again, I'll be waiting with a massage.

A Support

Siegbert: Mother, have you got some free time?
Mozu: Course, Siegbert. What did you need?
Siegbert: Well, I'd like to give you another shoulder massage.
Mozu: Hee... Did you think I forgot how nice the first one felt?
Siegbert: N-no, of course not! I just wanted to repay you for the advice you offered me the other day.
Mozu: No fooling? What I said to you took?
Siegbert: Very much so. I've been able to apply that open-mindedness to several situations. I've learned from villagers what it is to live diligently. And from my comrades, I've learned what it's like to face strong enemies... I've witnessed all different kinds of strength from the people I've encountered. And I've become acutely aware of my own shortcomings. But now, instead of grinding to a stop when I find a fault in myself... I want to push forward and overcome the obstacle.
Mozu: You've grown so much, so fast...
Siegbert: You say so, but I know I'm still small and weak in the grand scheme of it. I'm sure I'll still find things to be worried about... But that's also a necessary waypoint on the path to growing stronger... For now, I think I'll puff out my chest and brood a little, like Father.
Mozu: Ahahah! That's my Siegbert, all right. Don't go overboard with the brooding. You can always come to me with anything. You know that, right? I'm here to help.

Siegbert: I see... Mother, I think I know the perfect way to help us both!
Effie: You do? Does it involve any heavy lifting?
Siegbert: No, no effort on your part is required. I'd like to give you a shoulder massage.
Effie: I'm not hearing the "help us both" in this, my boy.
Siegbert: Like you, I've been feeling some aches and pains. One of the healers here showed me some pressure points to relieve the pain, but I can't really find the spots when I try to massage myself. If I could practice on your shoulders, you could tell me when I find the spots.

Siegbert: Nothing you need to worry about— I'm sure I can handle things on my own.
Effie: You sure about that?
Siegbert: Well... Lately I find myself lost in thought a lot. I can't help thinking that I'm not strong enough yet. Or wondering if I have what it takes to protect the people.
Effie: Oh, well, as for that, there's lots of people stronger than you. Me, for one. Lots of people smarter and more experienced than you, too.
Siegbert: Mother, you aren't really helping...
Effie: No, no, it's good that you know your weaknesses. It's OK to be a little weak now. You're young, after all. Spending time in the fire is what makes a man strong. I know it.
Siegbert: Time in the fire will make me strong... Thank you, Mother. I feel a bit better already.
Effie: Glad to hear it! And if your muscles ever get sore again... maybe ask someone with a gentler touch, huh?

Nyx: I take it back. This is worse than before. Is something on your mind?
Siegbert: Nothing you need to worry about— I'm sure I can handle things on my own.
Nyx: A mother knows when her son is lying.
Siegbert: Well, lately I find myself lost in thought a lot. I can't help thinking that I'm not strong enough yet. Or wondering if I have what it takes to protect the people.
Nyx: It's good that you're worried. The world is full of people stronger than you. They have power and knowledge you don't.
Siegbert: Mother, you aren't really helping...
Nyx: But you have something in common with them. You both know you're lacking. The only thing you can do when you feel that way is try and better yourself. The people I spoke of are an example to follow, not an ideal to hold yourself to.
Siegbert: And following their example... That will make me stronger? Thank you, Mother. I feel a little bit better today.
Nyx: My advice is, don't overthink it. But if your brooding ever gives you a stiff neck again, I'll massage it out anytime.

A Support

Siegbert: Mother, have you got some free time?

Nyx: I struck a chord, I take it?
Siegbert: Very much so. I've been able to apply that open-mindedness to several situations. I've learned from villagers what it is to live diligently. And from my comrades, I've learned what it's like to face strong enemies... I've witnessed all different kinds of strength from the people I've encountered. Siegbert: I'm sure I'll still find things to be worried about... But that's also a necessary waypoint on the path to growing stronger... For now, I think I'll puff out my chest and brood a little, like Father.

Selena: Well, don't. It's stupid. You should see it as an opportunity. All that knowledge and experience they have? Drink it up! Swim around in it! That's how kids like you grow up. You're young, so grab as much as you can from us old folks.
Siegbert: Studying my elders... That's what will make me stronger. Thank you, Mother. I feel a bit better already.

And I've become acutely aware of my own shortcomings. But now, instead of grinding to a stop when I find a fault in myself... I want to push forward and overcome the obstacle.
Peri: Well, listen to you, Siegbert. All grown up.
Siegbert: I'm sure I'll still find things to be worried about... But that's also a necessary waypoint on the path to growing stronger... For now, I think I'll puff out my chest and brood a little, like Father.
Peri: I was about to suggest that myself! But don't get carried away... If you need help, my son's problems are my problems. Got it?

Siegbert: Mother... So this is where you were.
Charlotte: Oh, Siegbert. Was there something you needed?
Siegbert: You seem tired. Is everything OK?
Charlotte: Oh, I'm dandy. Don't worry about it. Have I been a little busy lately? Sure. Is it tiring me out? Definitely. But no big deal.
Siegbert: I see... Mother, I think I know the perfect way to help us both!
Charlotte: What did you have in mind?
Siegbert: I'd like to give you a shoulder massage.
Charlotte: Not that I wouldn't love that, but I don't see what you'd get out of it...
Siegbert: Like you, I've been feeling some aches and pains. One of the healers here showed me some pressure points to relieve the pain, but I can't really find the spots when I try to massage myself. If I could practice on your shoulders, you could tell me when I find the spots.
Charlotte: Oh. That makes sense. Well, why not? Do your worst.
Siegbert: Excellent! Thank you, Mother. Here, try and relax...
Charlotte: Oooh... I needed that. I feel like a new woman—a much less tired one. Thanks, Siegbert. I worry about you, though, if your back's hurting too.
Siegbert: No need for concern, Mother. I'm the one who should be thanking you. Now that I know where to apply pressure, my pain will be a thing of the past.
Charlotte: Fingers crossed!

Charlotte: Hmm, Siegbert... I don't like the way your neck is looking. Come over here.

Charlotte: Shh! No back talk, now. It gets in the way of the massage.
Siegbert: I'm fine, really! I don't want to be seen like this.
Charlotte: Tee hee. Is it really so bad to get a rubdown from your mom once in a while?
Siegbert: *sigh* Fine...
Charlotte: You're like a coiled spring, Siegbert. Is there anything you need advice on?
Siegbert: Nothing you need to worry about— I'm sure I can handle things on my own.
Charlotte: You're suuuure?
Siegbert: Well... Lately I find myself lost in thought a lot. I can't help thinking that I'm not strong enough yet. Or wondering if I have what it takes to protect the people.
Charlotte: Hmm. It's true that in the grand scheme of things, you're not very strong. Just offhand, I can think of plenty of people stronger and smarter than you.
Siegbert: Mother, you aren't really helping...
Charlotte: What you need to do is see those people as teachers, not rivals. You're still a kid. You've got a lot to learn and plenty of people to learn it from. As long as you don't get a swelled head, you'll grow by leaps and bounds.
Siegbert: Learn from those stronger than me... That's how I'll become strong myself. Thank you, Mother. I feel a bit better already.
Charlotte: No worries. If the troubles on your mind cause knots in your back, I'm always here.

Siegbert: Very much so. I've been able to apply that open-mindedness to several situations. I've learned from villagers what it is to live diligently. Siegbert: Hello, Father.
Xander: Siegbert? I didn't see you there.
Siegbert: Are you preparing to ride into the fray?
Xander: That I am. Care to join me?
Siegbert: I-I'll decline... I lack the necessary experience to ride at your side. Any contribution I could make would pale in comparison to yours, Father...
Xander: I'm not expecting you to sweep the battlefield single-handedly, Son. But I think you'd get a lot out of it. Hands-on experience is priceless.
Siegbert: I don't doubt that. It's just... You see, I—
Xander: I won't force your hand, Siegbert. I realize you have your own duties to handle.
Siegbert: I hope I'm not disappointing you, Father.
Xander: Think nothing of it. We'd best both be off, then. I to my duties and you to yours. But do bear in mind that my position and my sword will pass to you someday. Remember that well.
Siegbert: You needn't worry about that, Father. It is ever uppermost in my mind...

B Support

Xander: I'd like to ask you something, Siegbert. What qualities are demanded of those who inspire others to action?
Siegbert: Might, wisdom, and skill come to mind. An iron will and faith in one's cause...
Xander: Indeed, all of those are crucial qualities in a leader.
Siegbert: You have an ample share of each one, Father.
Xander: And which of these qualities do you see in yourself, my son?
Siegbert: None of them. If I am an apple from your tree, it is undoubtedly a rotten one. I must hone my skills, until I am as mighty and noble as you...
Xander: I am very sorry, Siegbert.
Siegbert: Whatever for, Father?
Xander: I fear that my constant presence at your side has stunted your growth... Even more alarming, I fear I have somehow harmed your own self-image. That is the last thing a father ever wants to do to their own son. To compare the two of us does justice to neither. You have your own methods—your own ideals—and they are as valid as mine.
Siegbert: You're wrong! You are the star by which I navigate, Father! The yardstick by which I measure myself. You're...you're my hero.
Xander: I understand your feelings, Son. Truly, I do. There was a time when my father was the world to me as well. But if you would learn any one thing from me, let it be this. Your father I may be, but in this army, you and I are but fellow soldiers. And a soldier who cannot rely on his allies shall inevitably meet a swift end. In order to properly rely on me, you must first stop being intimidated by me. I am no star, merely a learning tool. Let us help keep each other sharp.
Siegbert: Father... Thank you. I will consider carefully what you have said.
Xander: If I can do anything to aid your growth, please don't hesitate to tell me. I wish to know...as your ally, and especially as your father.
Siegbert: I will, Father! I promise!

Siegbert: Father... There is a small matter I'm hoping you might help me with...
Xander: Siegbert? Leaning on me for assistance, are you? It's about time.
Siegbert: I hope I'm not being a bother...
Xander: Not in the least. What seems to be the trouble?
Siegbert: Ofttimes when I am caught in the gazes of our people, I am struck with fear. Their eyes are so heavy with expectation, and there are so many of them... I feel I must be nothing less than perfect in their eyes. And this vexes me.
Xander: You buckle under the weight of expectation, do you? I know the feeling well.
Siegbert: You do, Father? I didn't expect you to say that.
Xander: I'm flesh and bone, like anyone else. I wasn't prepared for this burden at first.
Siegbert: Then you are just the one to tell me— however did you manage the strain?
Xander: ...Bunnies. Whenever the people's beseeching eyes caused me to lose my nerve... I would imagine them as bunnies. Even the most chickenhearted, after all, never shrank from a bunny's stare.
Siegbert: Well, that's...certainly true.
Xander: It's not always that I imagine them this way, of course. Only at times when the strain might be otherwise too much to bear.
Siegbert: Haha... It's an interesting approach! I'll try that next time, Father.
Xander: I hope that it helps you as it has helped me. But do you know what lifts my spirits even more, Siegbert? To see my son come to me for advice.
Siegbert: I...I just never wanted you to think that I couldn't figure it out on my own. I just want so badly for you to be proud—
Xander: I know. And I am. More than words could ever fully convey. But we both stand to gain, never to lose, from frank and honest discussion. Let us not be strangers, but family. Anything you need, I wish to provide.
Siegbert: Thank you, Father. I won't soon forget those words. I...I love you so very much.
Xander: I love you too, my son. Come. Let us continue this discussion over a cup of tea.
Siegbert: Yes, sir!

Siegbert: Mother, you aren't really helping...
Hinoka: What mattered wasn't that I was aware of my deficiencies, but that I grew past them. It's all right for someone your age to feel inadequate—you are. Now is the time in your life for you to look to those stronger than you for examples.

Sakura: But what you have to realize is that those people can feel powerless too. And there's a lesson in that for you. There's no shame in powerlessness... Not at your age. The trials and tribulations you face as you grow old... Power comes from those.

Siegbert: Enough studying for one day…
Kana: Wow, Siegbert! I barely saw you behind all these books!
Siegbert: I have made quite a mess, haven't I? Sorry, I'll tidy up.
Kana: No, I mean I can't believe that you are actually reading all of them!
Siegbert: You'll find me here every day, studying every topic under the sun. I have time for only three hours of reading—I know it's not enough.
Kana: Three hours?
Siegbert: Then I have to rush off to train for three hours in whatever skills I'm lacking in. After that, three more of physical fitness. Not my favorite, but it must be done.
Kana: I didn't realize you're so busy. Makes me look lazy.
Siegbert: I don't mean for it to make anyone look any which way. It's just my habit. If I don't stick to a strict schedule, I feel adrift—a little spacey. Really, I suppose my schedule is simply a crutch.
Kana: I could never do that. My brain would be mush in one hour!
Siegbert: You'd be surprised. Time flies when you busy yourself from dawn to dusk.
Kana: Th-that's all day long. You do this from the time you wake up?!
Siegbert: Yes, of course. How else will I grow up to be who I want to be—if I don't make the most of me? Sorry. I didn't mean that to rhyme. It sounds more fussy than I wanted. Note to self: study elocution tomorrow.
Kana: Um. Maybe I should try this schedule thingy?
Siegbert: I'm glad to help, if you'd like.

Kana: Er, yes. Extremely.
Siegbert: I'm not surprised with your new schedule. Waking at dawn, morning chores. Then battle tactics—both land and sea. Even equestrian training. I'm impressed, Kana. You've taken on a lot!
Kana: I just wanted to live and learn as fully as you do... But, uh... *yawn* I'm...I'm...
Siegbert: Your elocution is curtailed when articulating through a yawn? Is that what you meant?
Kana: Uh, no. But I've got to keep on trying to pack more into my day, Siegbert.
Siegbert: I think you dove in headfirst. Try dipping your toe in. A lighter schedule at first might be a better start.
Kana: *yawn* All right.
Siegbert: Oh, I know. How about no schedule at all, but instead keep a daily log? If you write down all the things you do, you'll want to do more to write down! I think that would be a much better way for you to begin all this.
Kana: I should write on a log?
Siegbert: In a log—you know, a booklet! It's the perfect motivational tool.
Kana: Then I can show it to Mama too. She'll see how hard I'm trying!
Siegbert: Oh? Every bit of motivation helps. Now, let's find you a log so you can start.
Kana: Let's go! Let's go!

A Support

Kana: I've been so busy since dawn, Siegbert! I've filled a page of my got-done log!
Siegbert: Really? It's amazing how much more one gets done if one wakes early.

Siegbert: Soon you'll be ready to put together a schedule that makes you happy.
Kana: I've already done that too. Tomorrow I'll be studying battle tactics at this time! I don't know what I did all day long before I used your get-more-done tips.
Siegbert: Looks like I've created a monster!
Kana: Yes! I'm a goblin of productivity. Thanks for helping me, Siegbert.
Siegbert: Ha! I just hope you have time in your new schedule to spend time with me.
Kana: Of course! I've penned you in for a quarter to noon tomorrow. Just 15 minutes, but I'm sure we can make the most of it.
Siegbert: A short jog, perhaps?
Kana: Twice around the lake! Be sure to write me into your schedule though so you don't forget. I know how busy you are. I'm not nearly the do-it-all master you are.
Siegbert: Soon I'm sure the student will outdo the master. I look forward to it!
Kana: Oh, gosh. I don't mean it to be a competition. But if I'm a goblin of productivity, you'd better watch your back, Siegbert!

Kana: I want you to teach me how to be like you!
Siegbert: Huh? What do you mean?
Kana: Like, all of that tactics stuff you were saying you were good at! 'Cause I'm the youngest kid in camp, right? So there's a lot I still can't do. I know I can't just become a grown-up, but I can try to learn lots of different skills. Besides, I've always wanted to learn something from my big brother! I used to wonder a lot about what it would be like to spend more time with you.
Siegbert: Kana...
Kana: So now that I can, I want to learn as much as possible from you! Is that OK?
Siegbert: Of course it's OK. I'm glad you asked me.
Kana: Thank you so much!
Siegbert: But I'm not going to let you get ahead of me that easy. I want to learn from you too. Let's make it a competition to see who can grow stronger the fastest!
Kana: OK, but I'm not gonna be the one to lose! That's a promise!
Siegbert: Heh. Me either. All right, then. Today is patrol duty. Tomorrow, the real training begins!
Kana: Sounds good to me!

Kana: Hey, Papa? There's something I wanted to ask you about.
Siegbert: Of course, Kana. What do you need?
Kana: It's Mama. She's always treating me like a child.
Siegbert: Well, of course she is. You're her son. She'll always see you as her baby boy. And you're not that old yet. Last I checked, you still had your milk teeth.
Kana: I know, I know. I just mean I'm not as much of a child as I used to be. I want to help out with things. But whenever I try, she just tells me to go play with my friends instead.
Siegbert: I see. You want some responsibilities of your own.
Kana: Right! I want to show her that she can rely on me. Can you think of any special things I could do for her?
Siegbert: Special things to do for your mother, huh? Well, I usually bring her paintings or take her to go look at art collections together.
Kana: Oh.
Siegbert: Hm?
Kana: That's special stuff you already do for Mama. Not things that I could do.
Siegbert: I see. Let me think...
Kana: Oh! Oh! I know! Let's have a contest, Papa!
Siegbert: A contest?
Kana: Yeah! We'll have a contest to see which of us can make Mama happier! Between the two of us, I'm sure we can come up with all sorts of things! Whoever Mama thanks the most wins, OK?
Siegbert: A father-and-son competition, huh? All right. I accept your challenge!
Kana: Really? Yay!
Siegbert: I must warn you though, I AM the man who won your mother's heart. And I have no intention of going easy on you. All right?
Kana: That's OK with me, Papa. I'm gonna beat you fair and square!
Siegbert: Then let the games begin!

B Support

Kana: Hey, Papa! I've been making a ton of progress on our contest! How about you?
Siegbert: Well, I haven't done anything too special yet, but I've gotten quite a few thanks. I've got a tally right...here! Take a look!
Kana: WOW! That's a lot! You got all of these already?
Siegbert: Yep. It surprised even me, to tell the truth. I guess I do more for your mother than I'd thought.
Kana: Hmph. Well, I'm still not gonna lose! Here, see! I recorded all mine too! And the total is...um...
Siegbert: Hey! You've got the same number as me!
Kana: I do? I do! Haha! Kana's gonna beat you big-time, Papa! After all, I don't have to work, so I can spend all day doing things for Mama!
Siegbert: You spent all day helping? What did you do?
Kana: Mostly I've been trying to help out around camp. I spend each morning making arrows for the fletchers. Then at lunch I chop the bear meat for the cooks and hand out the food. Oh, and at night I make sure the mounts are all fed and outfitted for the next day. Plus I do a bunch of other little things whenever I have the time!
Siegbert: That's quite a lot of work. I'm impressed. You really have been growing up, haven't you?
Kana: Huh?
Siegbert: Oh, just a thought. It wasn't so long ago you were still in swaddling clothes. Now, all of a sudden, you're making real, important contributions to the army. Maybe I have been treating you as too much of a child as well.
Kana: Heehee. Yeah, I've been working real hard. Soon there'll be nothing I can't do!
Siegbert: I believe it. And I bet your mother is very proud of you for all your hard work.
Kana: Mhm! And I'm gonna work even harder tomorrow! I won't let this end in a draw, Papa!
Siegbert: Hmpf. And neither shall I. Let the best man win!

Kana: *grumble*
Siegbert: Hello, Kana.
Kana: Hi, Papa...
Siegbert: What's the matter? I'd expected you to still be exulting over your little victory the other day. Or has besting your old man already lost its novelty?
Kana: Oh, no. I'm still happy about that, I guess. It's just that I was trying to do things for Mama earlier, and she made me stop. She said I should be spending more time playing around with my friends. She still thinks I'm just a kid. Haven't I shown her I can do this stuff as good as anyone?
Siegbert: Ah. I see. I wouldn't worry about it too much. You're doing good work. I promise.
Kana: Then why doesn't she want me to help with anything?
Siegbert: Your mother, I think, knows full well you're capable of handling these things. But it makes her worry. And it makes her feel sad.
Kana: Huh? Why?
Siegbert: She doesn't want you to miss out on your childhood. And she doesn't want to lose her little boy. She's happy to see you're growing up, but she's worried you won't need her anymore. Parents are funny like that.
Kana: But...I'm just trying to pull my own weight. I don't get why that would be a bad thing...
Siegbert: That's all right. I didn't truly understand it myself until I became a parent. I do have a suggestion for you, however. Keep helping around camp for your mother, but don't work yourself quite so hard. Take breaks to see your friends, play games, go on adventures. You know. And it wouldn't hurt to spend some quality time with your mother every now and then. Think you can handle that?
Kana: But...
Siegbert: Hm? Do you not want to spend time with your mother?
Kana: No, that's not it! It's just...I feel like that stuff is for babies.
Siegbert: No, Kana. It's not for babies. It's for children. And your mother wants you to stay a child for just a little while longer. We both do.
Kana: Papa...
Siegbert: Kana, we know that you're going to grow into a fine young man. But for now...relax. Enjoy yourself. At least a little bit, here and there. Please. For your mother's sake.
Kana: OK... Thanks, Papa. I'll think real hard about everything you've said.
Siegbert: Good. You know... I think it would be good if you spent the night in with your mother. I'll go talk to her about it now.
Kana: Wait! What about you?
Siegbert: What? Me? No no no, I'm afraid I have to see to my studi—
Kana: But, Papa! Don't you need to take a break sometimes too? I thought you wanted me and Mama to be happy!
Siegbert: Well, when you put it like that... OK, OK. My studies can wait one night.
Kana: Yaaay!
Siegbert: Heh. So this is fatherhood, huh? I could get used to this...

Kana: If I have 400 apples...and 15 horses...? And I divide the apples equally among my horses...? Ugh. How much duller can these math problems get?
Siegbert: Hello, Kana. Studying?
Kana: Hi, Siegbert! I'm trying to—but these math problems aren't very interesting. I mean, why split all your apples among the horses... when you should just make a bunch of apple pies and have a horse party?
Siegbert: Please invite me if you ever have that party, Kana. But as far as math problems go, they really are good for mental exercise. Look at how many you've already done. You must have a knack for this!
Kana: Thanks—I sort of do. But it'd all be more fun if it were a math party.
Siegbert: I understand completely.
Kana: Hey! How about you and I have that party?
Siegbert: The horse party with the pie?
Kana: No, silly. A math party—just the two of us!
Siegbert: I'd love to attend. So, if you have one cake with 12 candles...and we each get half the cake...?
Kana: Save it for next time, Siegbert!

B Support

Kana: If I have 400 apples...and 15 horses...? And I divide the apples...? Wait, Siegbert. Isn't this the same math problem from last time? The answer is 24 apples per horse. No! It's 26.
Siegbert: Yes, 26.
Kana: I thought this math party of ours would spice things up. But I think the problem is that whoever is writing these doesn't get out much.
Siegbert: I think you're right—nothing against horses or apples. There must be some way to make it more fun though.
Kana: Er, maybe...
Siegbert: Come on, I know you're going to think of something great!
Kana: How about we turn it into a real game? Like, um, tag?
Siegbert: Perfect. What are the rules?
Kana: Well, there are two of us, so... Er...
Siegbert: Maybe another game. Tag doesn't seem to have much math in it.
Kana: I'll come up with something good for our next math party. We've done enough math for today anyway.
Siegbert: But you guessed all the problems! I didn't have a turn.
Kana: Sorry, Siegbert. I can't help it. It's like I have an abacus in my head. The answers just come to me!
Siegbert: All right then. How about I come up with the math game for next time then? Something that will really trip you up!
Kana: Y-y-you want to trip me?
Siegbert: No, Kana! I mean that you need a math game that really challenges you.
Kana: OK then. Challenge accepted!
Siegbert: Hmm, if not tag, then what...?
Kana: Ha! I'm not going to solve that problem for you, Siegbert. Surprise me.
(Kana leaves)
Siegbert: Kana, wait! Can't you give me a hint about what you're bad at? How about square-root problems? Ugh. How am I going to stump her? I'd better come up with something good.

A Support

Siegbert: All right, Kana. I've figured out the perfect game for our math party. Something that will really challenge you!
Kana: Eeeeep! What is it?
Siegbert: It involves catching spiders. Hundreds of them.
Kana: Uh, all right. But where's the math? How will we catch them?
Siegbert: Ha! I thought you'd be afraid of spiders! You aren't?
Kana: No, why? Was that your idea of a challenge?
Siegbert: You're good at math, so I had to come up with something tricky. Something you'd find creepy!
Kana: Um, horses eating apples is a little creepy. What if they eat ALL the apples? Then there wouldn't be any more.
Siegbert: True enough.
Kana: Let's just catch those spiders. It sounds fun.
Siegbert: All right. You asked how math came into that, right? Once they spin their webs, we'll use geometry to—
Kana: Er, geometry?
Siegbert: What's wrong?
Kana: I...I haven't learned that yet.
Siegbert: Oh, geometry is the best.
Kana: Then let's get some spiders, Siegbert.
Siegbert: Ah! I actually came up with a fun challenge for you? Then let the Great Spider-Web Geometry Extravaganza begin.
Kana: Yay! An extravaganza!

S Support

Siegbert: All right, Kana, it's your turn to come up with a game for today's math party.
Kana: I've got one. It's called the Castle of Math Problems. We need to pick roles. I'll be the princess.
Siegbert: Oh! I see. Then I'll be, hmm, the castle watchman.
Kana: No, you can't be that. Not for this game.
Siegbert: Ha! What should I be then? Moat swabber?
Kana: Not that either!
Siegbert: Then I shall be...the master of the kitchens! Beware, pot roasts!
Kana: No. I'm the princess, and you're the...?
Siegbert: Servant? OK.
Kana: No, no, no! If I'm the princess, that means you have to be the...?
Siegbert: Wow. This is harder than math problems. Can you give me multiple choice?
Kana: Just fill in the blank, Siegbert! It's obvious.
Siegbert: If you're the...?
Kana: Princess!
Siegbert: Then I'm the...? Oh.
Kana: Yes, you're my prince. That's what I want. For you to be my prince!
Siegbert: Ohhhh!
Kana: Finally! Now, let's begin playing the Castle of Math Problems.
Siegbert: Hold on. We need something more.
Kana: What are you doing to those dandelions, Siegbert?
Siegbert: Making them into rings! Here, I'll wear mine. You'll wear yours. I'm your prince, right?
Kana: I...I guess so.
Siegbert: Then we'd have rings on, right? Wait, don't you like these? I suppose I could ask around camp for some...
Kana: No, that's OK. They're kind of cute, actually.
Siegbert: All right, now we're ready for some math. Got some algebra for me?
Kana: I did. But now I have a different math problem for you, Siegbert. What's me plus you?
Siegbert: Er, what?
Kana: Me plus you. Tell me the first answer that pops into your mind!
Siegbert: Uh...math friends forever!
Kana: Close enough. I accept, Siegbert. I will be your Princess of Math. And you will be my...?
Siegbert: Prince of Math? Ha, sure! This is a fun game, Kana. I think we can play this for a long time!

Siegbert: Hmm... Where has Shigure gone? I doubt I'll find him in these hills and fields. But I couldn't locate him anywhere around the camp...
Shigure: *singing*
Siegbert: Ah, there he is! I wonder why he's just sitting on that tree stump? And who are those people surrounding hi— What?! Those aren't people. No, they're... forest animals?! Rabbits, squirrels...even bears! What in the name of the gods is going on...? They're just gathered around him so calmly.
Shigure: I think that's enough for one day. How did you like it?
Siegbert: Wait. Is he talking to them?
Shigure: Ahh! Who's there?! Oh no! Come back!
Siegbert: Ahh! I made the animals run away. My apologies, Shigure.
Shigure: You just startled them, Siegbert. And you startled me too! But don't worry about it. They can't help being a little bit shy. So tell me, what are you doing all the way out here?
Siegbert: I was looking for you, actually. Growing up separated prevented us from getting to know each other. But you're my brother, and I'd like to learn more about you. It would make me so happy to spend some real quality time with you.
Shigure: Ohh, I don't know what to say. I'm really not the most interesting person around... You would probably enjoy spending time with someone more outgoing.
Siegbert: No, no, that isn't true.
Shigure: Please, don't feel obligated to try and be my friend, just because of our relation. Honestly, I'm not in the most social mood right now. If you'll excuse me...
(Shigure leaves)
Siegbert: Shigure, wait! That wasn't very nice...

Siegbert: Hmm. Where has Shigure run off to today? I bet he went back to that clearing to see his animal friends again. I knew it. Hello, Shigure!
Shigure: Siegbert?! What are you doing out here? Ah! Oh no! Wait!
Siegbert: A-aah! I frightened them off again... My apologies.
Shigure: Oh, don't worry about it. They aren't used to other people being around here. It's easy to startle them.
Siegbert: I see... It's incredible how you've bonded with these wild animals. We may share the same parents, but that is a skill I did not inherit.
Shigure: Why were you looking for me again? Did you need something?
Siegbert: Yes. As your brother, I feel entitled to learn more about who you are. After all, you're the only sibling I have!
Shigure: That's true. Listen, I'm sorry for being rude the other day. We can hang out if it really means that much to you. I appreciate that you want to get to know me better.
Siegbert: I can stay here with you for a while then? I would love to see your animal friends.
Shigure: The animals... Ah, well. I don't think they'll want to come back while you're here.
Siegbert: Why is that? They all seem so very attached to you. Maybe if I try really hard, I can get them to like me too. Is there a special way to do that?
Shigure: Hmm... I'm not sure if this will help, but... Animals are highly attuned to the feelings of people around them. Most likely, they detected something in you that drove them off. They were fine until you got here, so I think it was definitely related.
Siegbert: To me? But I never once considered them my enemies!
Shigure: Are you sure? They can detect what you were thinking. Did you size them up to figure out which one might make a tasty dinner? Even just for a moment?
Siegbert: Absolutely not! I would never wish to hurt those creatures.
Shigure: Of course, I'm sorry. That's just the biggest reason I could think of for them to run away. I appreciate how sincere you are about befriending them. I'll try to think of what can be done to make them feel safe around you. There must be a way to help out my cherished brother.
Siegbert: I sure hope so, Shigure!

A Support

Siegbert: Hello, Shigure...
Shigure: What's wrong, Siegbert?
Siegbert: Well... I've just been thinking about what happened with the animals recently.
Shigure: Oh? Did you go to visit them while I was out and about? I'm just about to leave now, if you want to come along. Do you think you're ready to prove that you don't mean them any harm?
Siegbert: That's what I've been thinking about. I realized that I was feeling upset when I ran into you the other day.
Shigure: What do you mean?
Siegbert: Seeing you having fun with the animals made me envious. You had all the time in the world for them and none for me. At that moment, I wished for all of them to just disappear. I imagine the animals detected that animosity... As royalty, I should always be loving and open to all living things, and yet... I was foolish and petty. I'm so ashamed.
Shigure: Siegbert, I'm glad that you thought about this and talked to me.
Siegbert: I no longer deserve to go to the clearing. Don't worry, I won't try to accompany you ever again.
Shigure: Don't say that! I think you should definitely go back. You've opened up, and the animals will be able to tell you've changed. I think they'll be more welcoming.
Siegbert: I'm not sure...
Shigure: I am. You didn't have to tell me you were feeling jealous, but you did anyway. That shows that you've got a good soul inside of you. They'll be able to tell, too. Look! There's a rabbit coming this way!
Siegbert: Wh-whoa! Brother, what do I do?
Shigure: Just calm down... Relax, and take a breath. Quiet your mind, and be peaceful... Just think about how you want to be friends with the furry critter.
Siegbert: Y-yeah, I'm trying... Shigure, look! He's letting me pet him. Wow, he's so affectionate. Look at him just staring up at me. How cute.
Shigure: See? I told you it would all be fine.
Siegbert: Thank the gods!
Shigure: Now you can meet all the other animals! I think you will get along with everyone. Let's wander to the clearing in the woods— I bet your new friends will be waiting there.
Siegbert: OK! Lead the way!

Sophie: Hiiiya! Hya! Ha! Take this! And that! And that! Hm? Oh! Siegbert! Good morning!
Siegbert: Good morning, Sophie. Why are you up so early? Training?
Sophie: Training? I guess you could say that... Really, though, I was just trying to distract myself from something. Swinging the old lance around really takes my mind off things. HIIIYA!
Siegbert: Oh? Did something bad happen?
Sophie: Yeah. I got into a bit of a spat with Avel.
Siegbert: Ah, yes. Your famous mount. I've heard he can be quite the handful.
Sophie: You don't know the half of it! He's always wandering off into the wilderness! Even when I'm riding him! And if he's not doing that, he's trying to take a bite out of someone! Just last week, he almost took off a piece of Corrin's shoulder! And today he's been especially terrible. He even tried to kick me in the face! So I screamed at him and took away his snack.
Siegbert: I see. Well, sometimes a master must lead with a firm hand.
Sophie: I guess. I don't know. Maybe I was too hard on the big dummy. He's probably starving by now...
Siegbert: You care a lot about Avel, don't you? He must be very happy to have a friend like you.
Sophie: Thanks, Siegbert. That's kind of you to say. But I think Avel would beg to differ.
Siegbert: Don't say that. I bet Avel knows how you feel about him. Our animals tend to pick up on more than you'd think.
Sophie: Hm. Maybe you're right. Oh! Look at the time! I'd better go feed him his lunch now! Poor thing... Thanks, Siegbert! See you later!

Sophie: No! That's OK! People can't know I lost this.
Siegbert: Don't worry. I won't tell anyone. I promise. What did you lose?
Sophie: Well...I didn't lose it, really. Avel just sort of took it from me.
Siegbert: OK, but what IS it?
Sophie: That doesn't matter! Please, just leave me alone! I'll take care of it myself.
Siegbert: Ah, it's Avel! What's that he's got in his mouth?
Sophie: NO! Bad Avel! Go away! We don't want you here!
Siegbert: Is that a doll? No, it's not really human shaped. It's more like a... Ah. It's...a teddy bear.
Sophie: NO! NO! NO! Why did this have to happen to me?! You weren't ever supposed to know! No one was supposed to know!
Siegbert: I-I'm sorry! I didn't see anything! See? My eyes are closed! I can't see a thing! La-lala-lala!
Sophie: Oh, cut it out! It's too late now. I know you saw it. Ugh. You guys are the worst.
Siegbert: I'm really, really sorry! Please, allow me to make it up to you!
Sophie: Leave me alone. I'm just gonna sit over here and mope until I feel better. Blast it, Sophie, you big dum-dum!

Siegbert: Hello, Sophie. I wanted to apologize for the other day. I should have listened to your wishes and left the search to you.

Siegbert: Yes. I am truly sorry.
Sophie: It's OK! I'm not mad about it anymore. You were just trying to help.
Siegbert: Oh. Well, then. I'm glad. You have a good heart, Sophie. I appreciate your pardoning me. However... I cannot just let things stand as they are. I wounded you too deeply. So I have brought you a present. I know I cannot make up for the pain I've caused. But I hope it is worth something.
Sophie: You don't have to do anything so grand, Siegbert. It's OK, really.
Siegbert: No, I do. Please. Will you accept this gift?
Sophie: Gee, I don't— Oh my gods! It's an adorable little bunny doll!
Siegbert: Yes. It was embarrassing to purchase, to say the least. But I did it. I have little experience with stuffed animals and didn't know which to pick... But I hope you like it. This one was... the most...snuggle-able, I felt. *ahem*
Sophie: Hold your horses! I can't accept this! This is even more embarrassing than you seeing my teddy bear!
Siegbert: Huh? But I thought you liked it! You were smiling just a moment ago!
Sophie: That may be so, but stuffed bunnies like these are for little babies!
Siegbert: What?! Really? I'm so sorry! I didn't— I just meant—
Sophie: Ugh! Siegbert, you blockhead! *sigh* I appreciate the thought, but I think it's best if you just let things be. OK? Although I GUESS I could keep this wittle bunny-wunnie you bought me. You know, as a favor. To you. Teehee! Look at that wittle face...
Siegbert: You'll keep it? Perfect! I pray he becomes best friends with your little teddy pal.
Sophie: Heehee! Me too.

Sophie: Siegbert! Have you seen Avel anywhere?
Siegbert: I have. Just saw him in the stables, in fact.
Sophie: Thank goodness! Then he came back on his own. Ugh, the big lug. He had me worried sick.
Siegbert: You really are quite amazing. I've no idea how you manage to take care of Avel. He seems so impossible sometimes.
Sophie: Oh, I don't think I'm all that special. He's my responsibility. Anyone would do the same for their own animal.
Siegbert: I'm not so sure. Taking responsibility is easier said than done. For what it's worth, I think you're a first-rate caretaker.
Sophie: Aw, shucks. Thanks, Siegbert!
Siegbert: If you'll pardon my saying it, it's one of the things I really love about you.
Sophie: Love? That's some awfully strong language, there. Just what are you getting at?
Siegbert: I'm trying to say that...I like you, Sophie. And I want to be with you.
Sophie: Oh!
Siegbert: Sophie. Will you spend the rest of your life with me?
Sophie: Whoa! Gods! Just hang on a minute! Baby steps, Siegbert!
Siegbert: I'm sorry. Perhaps I was too forward. I don't know quite how to go about this. Growing up, I learned about affairs of the heart from books and the like... I hope I haven't offended you. It just seemed like a romantic thing to say.
Sophie: No, it's OK! I understand. I don't think any of us are very good at this stuff... And from what I hear, our parents weren't much better at taking things slowly. But maybe we should try courting first... I AM very fond of you. We want to be sure though. You're the future king of Nohr, after all. And I don't know how good of a queen I would make...
Siegbert: Don't say that! You would be the perfect queen of Nohr. A ruler must put their people first, even when it is most difficult. I know you would do this, because I see you do it every day for Avel. You have a compassionate soul, and a strong sense of responsibility. In other words, you have the heart of a queen.
Sophie: Siegbert...
Siegbert: But maybe you're right. We should not marry right away. However... I would still like to give you this ring. As a promise for the future.
Sophie: Are you sure?
Siegbert: Yes. I can think of no one else who would wear it better.
Sophie: Thank you, Siegbert. I'm honored!
Siegbert: Thank you, Sophie. I swear I will protect you with my life.
Sophie: I swear the same to you, my prince!

Midori: Hi, Siegbert!
Siegbert: Good afternoon, Midori.
Midori: Are you reading a book? Mind if I read with you?
Siegbert: Ah, well, it's a book on military tactics. I'm not sure you would enjoy it much.
Midori: Huh? What's that?
Siegbert: Tactics? It's how you move and use troops in battle so as to be most effective.
Midori: So you're studying how to beat our enemies?
Siegbert: Precisely.
Midori: Hm. About that... Why do we always have to fight them? Why can't we just talk?
Siegbert: I suppose it's because we both have things we're not willing to surrender. Be it family, wealth, power, or something else. The motivations for going to war can be complex beyond belief.
Midori: Can't we just trade stuff? It seems like it would be better than trading lives...
Siegbert: Well, that only works so long as both parties are opposed to the trading of lives. If one is perfectly happy with violence, they can all but force the other into slavery. Some things are more valuable than even life. And there is no guarantee one's life will be spared simply because they surrender.
Midori: I see.
Siegbert: But...I admit that a world in which no one resorts to violence would be ideal.
Midori: Do you think our world could ever be like that?
Siegbert: ... Yes. Of course, Midori.

Siegbert: *sigh*
Midori: Siegbert, what's wrong? Are you feeling OK? Are you sick?
Siegbert: Hm? Oh, no. I'm not sick.
Midori: Are you sure? You just had your head in your hands. Do you have a headache? I have some medicine for that, you know!
Siegbert: Thank you for worrying about me. But my head isn't hurting. I was just thinking.
Midori: Oh. What were you thinking about?
Siegbert: About my companions and myself. About our future and the war. I cannot seem to find any answers, no matter how much I think about it. Not the best trait for a leader, eh?
Midori: You must be under a lot of stress. Are you sure you can handle it, Siegbert?
Siegbert: Yes, I'll be fine.
Midori: You're a bad liar—you know that?
Siegbert: Haha, I can't get anything past you, can I?
Midori: I'm sorry. I wish I could make some medicine to remove your worries.
Siegbert: I'm pretty blessed, aren't I?
Midori: Huh? How so?
Siegbert: Because. I have kind companions like you by my side.
Midori: But I didn't do anything...
Siegbert: You cared about me enough to ask what was wrong, and you cheered me up. That's more than enough.
Midori: Really? I cheered you up just by talking to you? Hooray!
Siegbert: Yes, you did. Thank you, Midori. You're a good friend.

Midori: OK, now sit down right here.
Siegbert: All right. Will you tell me what's going on now?
Midori: Teehee! Nope! It's a secret.
Siegbert: Fine, fine. Can I at least take this blindfold off?
Midori: Nope! Just relax and start taking deep breaths.
Siegbert: OK... Breathe in... Breathe out... Like that?
Midori: Yep! That's perfect! Now, just wait one second while I...
Siegbert: Hm? What's that smell? It's so...sweet. It reminds me of summers past. Ah, I see. You're burning some special incense for me.
Midori: Bingo! Do you like it?
Siegbert: I do. It's very nice. I haven't felt this relaxed in months.
Midori: Hooray! I knew it would do the trick! You've been under so much pressure lately, I wanted to do something special for you. Help you relax, you know? So I did some reading and found out about this stuff. It took me a lot of digging to find the recipe, but I managed!
Siegbert: Midori...
Midori: I would have liked to find a medicine to cure you of your worries, but I couldn't. Too good to be true, right? But I figured this stuff would work in a pinch!
Siegbert: You went through all this trouble just to make me feel better?
Midori: You seemed like you needed it. Please, don't worry. It wasn't too much work.
Siegbert: Thank you, Midori. Your kindness is astounding.
Midori: Heehee! You're welcome!
Siegbert: Mmmm. It really does smell divine. What is it made of, I wonder?
Midori: Sunbaked droppings from a special type of cow that only eats one type of herb! They're only raised in a few places.
Siegbert: Mmm, wonderf— Wait, it's made of cow droppings?! I've been inhaling cow feces?! This entire time?! *cough cough* *hack* *ptooie*
Midori: I've still got lots more, so if you ever get a hankering, just call on me! Teehee.
Siegbert: Agh...th-thank you. That's very...generous.

Midori: Siegbert...there's actually something I've been meaning to talk with you about.
Siegbert: Oh? What's that?
Midori: You always seem so worried about the war and your future place as king. I don't think it's healthy. You have to learn to relax!
Siegbert: Midori...I understand. But I cannot simply set such things aside and rest. I have a responsibility that cannot be taken lightly. Every decision I make must be measured and weighed. A mistake on my part could cost thousands of lives and untold amounts of suffering.
Midori: Which is why it's important you rest! You're more likely to make mistakes if you don't.
Siegbert: I suppose there's sense in what you say. But how can I rest? I don't really know what people do to relax.
Midori: You can just leave that to me!
Siegbert: Huh?
Midori: I want to help you, Siegbert... You're always trying so hard for everyone else. You never think of yourself. You need someone to take care of you. Someone...like me.
Siegbert: Midori, you don't have to—
Midori: No, let me finish! I WANT to take care of you because... b-because...I love you, Siegbert!
Siegbert: ...
Midori: I'm sorry! I shouldn't have said anything. I'll just go away now...
Siegbert: Midori...I love you too.
Midori: Really?!
Siegbert: Yes. Will you be the one who looks out for me when I cannot?
Midori: Of course! And will you protect me when I can't protect myself?
Siegbert: Of course. Here's to a bright future, my love.

Forrest: Oh, did you have some shopping to do too?
Siegbert: Not exactly. I just feel it's been too long since we've chatted.
Forrest: What do you mean? We talked for three hours straight yesterday! Or was there something in particular you wanted to talk about?
Siegbert: Er...well, no. I apologize. Would you prefer to go alone?
Forrest: No, it's not that. But you don't really wish to have a chat, do you? You're trying to protect me again.
Siegbert: *sigh* Guilty as charged. Is that so terrible of me? You're my cousin. I just want to make sure you're safe.

Siegbert: Indeed. Do you mind?
Forrest: Yes. I do.

I just worry about you. Anyway, I'm so very sorry. I never meant to hurt you. I was unforgivably wrong.
Forrest: Siegbert...it's OK. I understand. Your heart was in the right place. I'm happy that you were trying to protect me. It's nice having a guardian angel. But from here on out, I want you to see me as your ally, not your obligation. OK?
Siegbert: Yes, of course. I never meant to do otherwise. I swear it. You're still my cousin, and I love you. I will always want to protect you. But you're as capable a man as I, and I will respect that from now on.
Forrest: Exactly! I'm so happy you understand.
Siegbert: So! Want to go shopping? I really do have something to do in town this time, I promise!

Siegbert: Well...yes. Thank you for your service. You're truly an inspiration to the rest of us.
Ignatius: Are you being sarcastic or something?
Siegbert: No, quite the opposite! I admire the way you carry yourself in battle. You're a model warrior.
Ignatius: Well, thank you for the kind words, but I don't know about that. I just do what I'm told...
Siegbert: Well, I only wish I could be as gallant and brave as you, Ignatius.
Ignatius: Again, thank you, but I really wish you wouldn't say things like that. I'm hardly the most skilled warrior fighting on our side. On top of that, if you were ever to examine my knees just before battle... I think you'd find them knocking more loudly than a traveling salesman. I just know my role, I guess.

Ignatius: Because your role isn't to be the most heroic on the battlefield. Your role is to lead our people...and protect the kingdom.
Siegbert: Of course. But again, so what?
Ignatius: Well...there's no real need for you to be so brave on the battlefield. I'm replaceable. You're not! My role is to protect people, and your role is to be protected. If anything, you should probably stay as far away from battle as—

Siegbert: I'm sorry, Ignatius. I let my emotions get the best of me. I appreciate your concern, and believe me, I do understand my role. But I refuse to stand idly by while my friends risk their necks for me in battle!
Ignatius: I respect that. But if you die, who will lead us?
Siegbert: Oh, I don't intend on dying, Ignatius.
Ignatius: I'm sorry for questioning you, Siegbert. I see now what you're truly made of. I, for one, would be proud to carry your banner into battle—at your side.
Siegbert: That means a lot to me, Ignatius. And I would be honored to fight side by side with you any day of the week. Let's live to see the end of this war...and forge a peaceful future for all.

Velouria: A lofty goal. But more cheaply spoken than done.
Siegbert: Fine! I shall prove it with my actions.

It is, I admit, perhaps a bit too grand for daily wear. But you must see, it is truly a masterpiece of Nohrian metallurgy.
Velouria: Hmph. Shiny garbage. Is this the best you can show me?
Siegbert: Oh? But...I was certain...
Velouria: Is there anything else, or are you prepared to accept my verdict?

Velouria: Oh, good. That's a relief.

Velouria: A child's doll?
Siegbert: Oh, no. This is no mere doll. It's a highly articulated action figure! You can swap out its accessories and dress it up in different outfits!

Velouria: ...It is a child's dress-up doll. And an ordinary one at that.
Siegbert: Well, yes, technically. But its versatility is so impressive... All right, then how about this makeup box? It plays music when you open it! Do dee do dodododo! ♪ Well?!
Velouria: Yes. It does play music.
Siegbert: OK, none of these are good. But I think I better understand what you like now. Please, just give me some more time!

Velouria: How boring. This is refuse, not treasure. I do not care for books and pictures.
Siegbert: So I've failed yet again...
Velouria: It seems so. I prefer things like, say, broken sword hilts or furballs. Oh! Or lizard tails! A nice, aromatic block of rotting wood works too.
Siegbert: I see. I'm way off the mark then. I'm sorry, Velouria. I tried my hardest, but it wasn't enough. Maybe I was just talking big when I said I wanted to understand all of my subjects. If I have this much trouble even guessing what kinds of gifts one person would like... a man like me could never become king.
Velouria: That's not true. I think you will make a truly great king.
Siegbert: Huh? You do?
Velouria: You tried earnestly—even desperately— to understand me. I think that is the chief mark of a good king. He listens to his subjects. It isn't always possible to understand them, but the desire is what's important.
Siegbert: Velouria...
Velouria: Thank you so much for trying to understand my tastes, Siegbert. Maybe conversation is a better way to learn about each other than gift giving. Would you like to go on a walk with me, Siegbert?

For the people of Nohr to unite, they must understand that we are all interconnected. They must learn to understand each other. And we will show them how. But, in truth, all that is secondary. I want you to be my queen because...I love you. And, someday, I hope to marry you, Velouria.
Velouria: I would like that very much, Siegbert. I have long held feelings for you as well.

Ophelia: No—I insulted your future role as a king, which has got to be hard on you. I always see you preparing for your future. I was a jerk, frankly.
Siegbert: It's all right. I'm not upset.

Siegbert: Very kind of you, Ophelia.
Ophelia: You never abuse your high standing. You constantly fret about your future. If the people of your country saw that, they'd all choose you too! I know you're going to be the most incredible king ever, Siegbert.
Siegbert: I...I can only hope. Thank you, Ophelia.
Ophelia: No need to thank me.
Siegbert: For those generous words? Yes, I do. Furthermore, I see how hard you train. You inspire me every day.
Ophelia: Oh, that's nice of you to notice.

Siegbert: Is there any way to accurately predict the future?
Ophelia: Hmm. Fortune-telling of any sort is a hint wrapped in a clue. That's all.
Siegbert: There's no method that's better than that?
Ophelia: Fate is a cart with a missing wheel. It'll go in the right direction. But it wobbles, and no amount of fortune-telling will help. The only thing I can think of is if someone from the future came back in time. That person would know the details. But time-travel is impossible, of course.

Siegbert: You see, I know of a fantastic woman I hope would marry me. But I doubt that she would consider hitching her fate to mine.
Ophelia: Oh, I see. It's probably best that you can't see the future of all that.
Siegbert: Why not? It would be very reassuring.
Ophelia: That's exactly why not. What kind of proposal involves knowing the outcome? A woman needs to consent to marriage. But if you know she will...? I'd say you just go for broke. Ask! Propose! Leap into the chasm!
Siegbert: That sounds dangerous...
Ophelia: Not really. Not for you. There isn't a woman alive who'd turn down a proposal from you.
Siegbert: Then, Ophelia, would you please grant me your hand in marriage?
Ophelia: Now, see? There you go? When the time comes, say it JUST like that. Wait. Did— Me? Did you? Just? Propose to?!
Siegbert: If I may unscramble that, Ophelia? Yes, I just proposed to you.
Ophelia: You want to marry ME?!
Siegbert: If you'll only accept this ring...
Ophelia: Th-this seems so sudden!
Siegbert: Ah, so it's no.
Ophelia: No, it's not no. It's yes, but only if you understand that my fate as the chosen one comes first. I love everything you are, but I cannot give up everything that I am.
Siegbert: I would ask for nothing more.
Ophelia: How lovely to be chosen twice in life! Once by fate, and now by you! I suppose I should have seen all this coming—us training so well together. I do choose you, Siegbert. I choose you to be with me, forever.

Soleil: Doot de doo...
Siegbert: Soleil?! Wh— What the— Why would— WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!
Soleil: What's it look like? I tripped and fell in the mud, so I'm changing clothes.
Siegbert: I-I can see that all too well. I mean— Not that I was staring! I just happened to catch a glimpse of— What I mean to say is, we're out of doors, Soleil!
Soleil: Wow, Siegbert! You seem really flustered today for some reason.
Siegbert: "Some reason"? Are you saying you don't know?!
Soleil: What, is it because I'm changing? I don't really care if people see me.
Siegbert: You seem almost...proud of that fact. Well, regardless of whether you care, I very much do!
Soleil: It shouldn't be that big a deal, though. Not for my future lord, anyway.
Siegbert: What makes you think you're going to be my retainer?
Soleil: Well, my dad serves Lord Xander. So it stands to reason that as his kid, I'd serve Lord Xander's son, right?
Siegbert: I'm...not sure I follow, but I appreciate the thought.
Soleil: And as my future lord, you need to be ready for whatever I might do! All right, where was I?
Siegbert: No! Stop! I just told you not to change your clothes here! It's embarrassing even if I avert my eyes. Try to have at least SOME modesty!
Soleil: Siegbert...I'm hurt. Are you ashamed of me because I got scuffed up a little?
Siegbert: What? No, that wasn't my meaning. I apologize if I said something to offend. It's just...I... Arrrrrgh! I give up!
(Siegbert leaves)
Soleil: Whoa! Future Lord Siegbert! Dang... He's gone already.

Soleil: Ahaha! No, wait! Come back!
Siegbert: Soleil!
Soleil: Siegbert?!
Siegbert: Are you chasing girls again?
Soleil: Yep! I can't help myself. Why, should I not?
Siegbert: I won't order you not to. But if I recall correctly, you strive to carry yourself nobly, don't you?
Soleil: Yeah! I want to be strong enough that everyone can tell just by looking at me.
Siegbert: And is that the impression you think you convey when you chase girls around?
Soleil: ... No. It probably isn't.
Siegbert: A wise assessment. Nor would such a woman change clothes out of doors, I daresay.
Soleil: ... On a scale of 1 to 10, how sure are you about that?
Siegbert: Soleil! There wasn't supposed to be any room for disagreement in that! All I am saying is that it would behoove you to act with more modesty.
Soleil: Urgh...if you say so, I guess. But I think a really strong woman would be herself, and not be ashamed of her ways. If she feels something, she acts on it, without worrying about anyone else!
Siegbert: That hadn't crossed my mind.
Soleil: Sorry, I didn't mean to talk out of turn! I'll keep it zipped from now on. My lord's orders are absolute, after all. I gotta go now, but I'll see you later, Future Lord Siegbert!

(Soleil leaves)
Siegbert: Hmm... There may have been some truth in what she said. Be true to oneself, eh? And never mind what others think of you... I wonder if I would be capable of that.

Soleil: *sigh*... Where do all these cuties COME from? She makes me want to hug her from behind and whisper sweet nothings in her ear.
Siegbert: Hello, Soleil.
Soleil: Aaah! Oh, it's just you. Listen, I wasn't chasing any girls around! I promise!
Siegbert: Haha, I'm not here to chastise you.
Soleil: You're not? But weren't you upset about that the other day?
Siegbert: If I was, it was only over the sheer audacity of your flirtatiousness. But your words have swayed me. I've had a change of heart.
Soleil: My words? I don't even remember what I said now.
Siegbert: You said true strength comes in not fearing what others think of you. And on reflection, I suspect you might be right.
Soleil: Oh yeah. I did say that, didn't I? Ahaha, my memory is terrible. The only thing I never forget is a girl's face...
Siegbert: You're quite strong in your way, Soleil.
Soleil: Really?!
Siegbert: I can't follow my heart as you do. It will always be too important to me to consider what those around me think. But I'd like to be truer to myself, at least in part.
Soleil: Uh, Siegbert...I'm happy to hear you think I'm strong, don't get me wrong, but... all I did was chase girls around and change clothes in public. I'm not sure I'm the best role model to look to, is what I'm saying.
Siegbert: Hahaha. Perhaps not. But then, why should I care what you think on the matter, right?
Soleil: Uhhhh... Sure! I won't worry about it, in that case.
Siegbert: I do hope you'll listen in the event that you ever go too far, though. It's good to take pride in yourself and to go your own way... But not to the point that your actions become a problem for others.
Soleil: Oh, totally! It would help a lot if you'd be there to put the brakes on for me. How sad would it be if I turned a girl away because I was coming on too strong? I need you to put a lid on me before that happens, Future Lord Siegbert!
Siegbert: Yes, erm...you may rely on me.

Siegbert: *sigh*
Soleil: Is something eating you? You look a little broody.
Siegbert: Erm, yes...
Soleil: Whatever it is, you can tell me! You're my future lord, after all. It's my job to be useful to you in whatever way I can!
Siegbert: Mm...
Soleil: Really, it's OK! You don't have to be so reluctant.
Siegbert: Your future lord... I suppose that's all I am to you. I wouldn't know how to begin broaching the subject...
Soleil: You've gotta speak up if you want me to hear what you're saying! It's not like you to mumble, though. This must really be serious. Better to get it over with, though: just go ahead and say what's on your mind.
Siegbert: Very well... The truth is...I don't want you for my retainer.
Soleil: Y-you don't? Was it something I said? Did I make you ashamed to have me? Just say the word, and I'll shape up! I promise!
Siegbert: I'm sorry. That turn of phrase was ill considered. That's what I get for voicing my feelings without careful consideration.
Soleil: OK, what DID you mean?
Siegbert: When I become king, which I hope will be a day far in the future... I'll not want for vassals, advisors, retainers, and the like. All of Nohr will pledge fealty to me and obey my commands. In far shorter supply will be those I can count as friends.
Soleil: Huh. So when you say you don't want me to be your retainer...
Siegbert: Yes. It's not that I wouldn't value your service—not at all. But your friendship and trust would be far more precious to me.
Soleil: Haha, you should have said that to start with! Maybe we can split the difference, though? There's nothing that says I can't be your friend and your retainer at the same time. My dad gets along great with Lord Xander, after all!
Siegbert: In theory, yes... But there would always be that tension, you see. What if I had a dangerous task that I could only entrust to my personal attendant? Would I send you and risk losing a stalwart friend? Or would I hold you back, demonstrating a lack of confidence in your abilities?
Soleil: Wow. Yeah, I see what you mean. I never thought being king would be this tough. And you're still just a prince!
Siegbert: It would be a comfort to me if I knew I had you as a close friend instead. And king or no king, I would always be the same for you.
Soleil: You've got a deal, Future L— I mean, buddy.
Siegbert: I-I'm not certain I'm comfortable with "buddy," but yes. Here's to our deep and abiding friendship.

Nina: Heehee! Oh, look at those two, plotting strategy or tactics over that map... Yes, that's it...reach across and point to something...let your fingers graze his arm... Oh, my. The one with the mustache is getting angry. That's it—let your emotions boil over. This could be quite a delicious argument…
Siegbert: I agree, neither man seems ready to yield. Of course, sound strategy is often born from heated debate among tacticians. We may be up against a pair of formidable opponents.
Nina: Siegbert? When did you get here?
Siegbert: Hello, Nina. I noticed that you were following those soldiers... So I began following you—to see if I could be of assistance in any way.
Nina: Oh. Well, that's quite all right. I'll, er, manage just fine by myself—
Siegbert: Nina, it's OK. We're on the same team. You don't need to hide anything from me. You've uncovered something nefarious, have you not? These men are plotting something!
Nina: Um...
Siegbert: You've been after them for a while now, haven't you? I didn't realize you were such a cunning strategist. But then again, I suppose one at your level would WANT to be seen as airheaded...
Nina: Now, wait a second...
Siegbert: Of course, talented though you may be, you can't expect to take on this mission alone. So, what do you say? May I be of assistance after all?
Nina: No! I was doing just fine all by myself. You, uh, wouldn't understand the sort of high-level reconnaissance I'm doing. So just leave me alone already!
Siegbert: I see. You're pushing me away to protect me. So noble, and selfless... But unnecessary! I can take care of myself, you know. The two of us must unite to stop this evil plot before it threatens us all!
Nina: OK. I give up. You're in, Siegbert.

Siegbert: Well, of course. We're a team, aren't we?
Nina: I was just humoring you. I really don't need any help.
Siegbert: Never mind that. Look, they're going into the ruins up ahead.
Nina: Hmm, you're right. What a tantalizing development...
Siegbert: Well, that's it. I can't allow them to use historic ruins to further their evil plot. Leave this to me.
Nina: What are you going to do?
Siegbert: Isn't it obvious? I'm going to go into those ruins and stop them. Wait here. If I require assistance, I'll shout a key word at the top of my lungs. Something short and memorable. Let's see... Justice! Or maybe...valor! Which do you prefer?
Nina: How about something more lighthearted, like... Trousers! Wait, what am I saying? Don't go in there, Siegbert! This is all a mistake—
Siegbert: I'll be fine, Nina. But I cannot stand idly by while evil men plot their next move. Ho, evildoers! Prepare yourselves to face Siegbert the Lionhearted of Nohr!

Nina: This ought to be good...

Siegbert: Nina. I have something to confess.
Nina: Siegbert? What is it?
Siegbert: Those two gentlemen you have been following... They're construction workers. They were actually intent on restoring those ruins the other day.
Nina: Well, I could have told you that.
Siegbert: Is that so? Well then why, in the name of my father, DID YOU NOT?
Nina: Ugh. I tried, Siegbert! You hardly let me get a word in edgewise. And then you tromped off in pursuit of glory and ruined everything.
Siegbert: I... You're right. Forgive me, Nina. I admit that, at times, I am a bit anxious to perform heroic deeds. Please understand that I feel a great deal of pressure as heir to the kingdom.
Nina: Oh, forget it already. I did. It's really not a big deal. I probably could have stopped you, but I was annoyed. So, sorry about that.
Siegbert: No, please don't apologize, Nina. I should have acted with more care...
Nina: It's really nothing. I mean, you're going to be king someday! I think having an overactive instinct to protect is probably a good thing.
Siegbert: Nina... Thank you.
Nina: Aw, I haven't done anything worth your gratitude.
Siegbert: There's just one thing I don't understand. Since we have established that those men were merely construction workers... Why in the world were you spending so much time following them?
Nina: FORGIVENESS RESCINDED. You do NOT get to ask me about that.

Nina: What am I, some kind of freak show? I'm not the only one around here with secrets!
Siegbert: No, of course not! Nina, if anything, I find your mysterious ways appealing.
Nina: Oh, come on. Really?
Siegbert: It's true. And I have my own secret to confess: I'm in love with you.
Nina: I...I don't believe you. You barely know anything about me!
Siegbert: It may be true that I don't know everything about you, Nina. But I do know that you're kind to everyone. You're calm on the battlefield. And you have that mysterious SOMETHING that has gotten under my skin.
Nina: Well, thank you. But I think if you knew exactly what the SOMETHING was... You'd run the other direction.
Siegbert: I disagree.
Nina: All right, then. Let's say—hypothetically, of course—that I love spying on men. And not just any men. Men in close relationships. Men who are best friends. Weirded out yet?
Siegbert: No, that doesn't concern me. I, too, am fascinated by espionage and surveillance.
Nina: I'm not sure you quite understand, but thank you for saying that.
Siegbert: Truly, I don't care what secrets you hold. I want to get to know the real you.
Nina: Siegbert...
Siegbert: Nina, will you accept this ring?
Nina: I...I will. I hope you know what you're getting into, Siegbert.
Siegbert: I don't! But that's precisely what makes it so appealing. Regardless, I promise to protect you for the rest of our lives.

Shiro: Hmmm...I don't have anything against the idea, but damn. You're not playing around!
Siegbert: In what way?
Shiro: I mean, you're way ahead of the game to think about friendly relations now. I just think it would be cool if we could kick back and relax, y'know?
Siegbert: Shiro...are you aware of your responsibility as the crown prince?
Shiro: Say what?
Siegbert: It is our noblesse oblige to consider what's best for our kingdoms and act accordingly. And I have the sense when I look at you that you don't fully grasp this.
Shiro: S-sorry, what? Sounds like you're saying I don't have what it takes to be prince.
Siegbert: Not in so many words. But I do think it would behoove you to be more mindful of your actions.
Shiro: I made my mind up about all that stuff when I left the Deeprealms. And nobody's gonna tell me otherwise.
Siegbert: Er...
Shiro: Oh, I know just how to settle this! Let's put it to the test!
Siegbert: I don't follow...
Shiro: Yeah, you know! When you can't agree, you gotta fight it out! Some kinda test of strength...hmm. Oh! We should arm-wrestle! Whaddaya say?
Siegbert: How does that resolve anything? Wouldn't it be better to talk this out rationally?
Shiro: A real king would rise to the challenge! What do you say? Are you up for it?
Siegbert: You leave me little choice. Let's have this test of strength you're so keen on.
Shiro: Yeah, buddy! It's on now!

Shiro: Hey, Siegbert! Come to try your luck at arm wrestling again?
Siegbert: No, I've accepted my loss from last time, vexing though it was.
Shiro: Ahaha! You weren't ready to take the champ, but I'm always up for a rematch!
Siegbert: Are you suggesting that to hear me out, I must first defeat you at arm wrestling?
Shiro: Aw, don't look so down about it! I had lots of fun in our little bout. Tests of strength show a lot about a guy's character, you know. I felt like we really bonded as I slammed your arm to the table! Just like you wanted! I'm not like you, who cares mostly about duty and royalty and all. I'm more the type of guy who worries about how to get people to like me the way I am.
Siegbert: Is that a concern of yours?
Shiro: Yeah. Most folks who're nice to me want to butter up a prince, not get to know a guy. That's why I work hard to be a better man.
Siegbert: Yes, that makes sense. I can understand that impulse, I think. It's not my way, though.
Shiro: Why not?
Siegbert: Much as I'd like to earn the affection of my subjects... I don't think I could fill my father's shoes if I did.
Shiro: Who, Xander?
Siegbert: Yes. The whole kingdom adores him because of his devotion in protecting them. I couldn't hold a candle to such a great king.
Shiro: ... What are you talking about, man? You've GOT this.
Siegbert: What?
Shiro: You're the only Siegbert there is. So why compare yourself to someone else? Just work on making your kingdom the awesome place you know it can be.
Siegbert: ...Well put. Strange as it is to admit, there's wisdom in that. When the time comes for me to rule over Nohr, I must simply do the best I can.
Shiro: Yeah, you're getting it! Just do things how you want to, and BAM! The rest takes care of itself!
Siegbert: "Bam"? I'm still not sure that's any way to run a kingdom... That brings me to something I'd meant to mention. You might try to solve things less with raw enthusiasm and more with careful planning. As a prince, you should be more mindful of your surroundings.
Shiro: Auuuugh, I knowwww! Believe me, I think about that all the time. Well I guess I should be thankful I have you to point out my flaws to me.
Siegbert: Haha... I suppose. I wouldn't do it if we didn't know each other well by now.
Shiro: That's right! My good pal Siegbert!

Shiro: Haha! Well played. Let's go again!
Siegbert: Gladly. It's moments like this that drive home how deep our friendship has become. I hope that things between us can remain so cordial once the war is over.
Shiro: Yeah, same here. We've gotta stay in touch, you know?
Siegbert: Shiro...
Shiro: Hey! Don't go mushy on me now! You crack me up, buddy.
Siegbert: Come now...! Can't I express my joy without making a laughingstock of myself?
Shiro: Hahaha! Sorry. I'm just uncomfortable when things get too heavy. But I wasn't lying when I said we need to stay in touch. You said it yourself. When the war is over and we go our separate ways... Our friendship will still cross the border between our countries.
Siegbert: I'll do my utmost to ensure that. I pray that the people of our respective countries will follow suit.
Shiro: Ha! There you go, laying it on thick again!
Siegbert: Was I? I meant every word of it. I value our friendship, and I look forward to maintaining relations with you.
Shiro: You wanna shake on it?
Siegbert: It would be a novel change to clasp hands for something besides arm wrestling...
Shiro: Heheh! Put her there, buddy!
Siegbert: A handshake between princes...our friendship is of global import.
Shiro: Hahaha! Yeah, when you put it that way, it's the best friendship in the world!

Mitama: *sigh* I am beginning to think I will never understand…
Siegbert: Hm? What is it you don't understand?
Mitama: Oh, Siegbert. You might be just the person to answer my question! What meaning is there to find in risking our lives on the battlefield?
Siegbert: What meaning?
Mitama: Yes. For what reason do nations go to war? Why do their peoples kill each other? All I have seen is pain. Blood and death and sickness abound. Yet we talk about it as though it were some grand adventure. I cannot fathom it. We should all just return to our homes.
Siegbert: Well, yes, that would be ideal.
Mitama: If you think that it is ideal, then why have we not done it? If no one enjoys war, why do we bleed so much for it?
Siegbert: I...

Siegbert: Mitama. Do you have a moment?

Siegbert: Ah, yes, I suppose. It's about what we talked about the other day. When you asked me what the point was behind risking our lives to fight.
Mitama: Yes, I remember. What about it?
Siegbert: If you don't see the point in fighting, why do you still go to battle with us?
Mitama: It is simply the way things went.
Siegbert: What kind of answer is that?
Mitama: We should follow the course cut out for us, not oppose it blindly. This is the course that was cut for me. If I did not go to battle, I would be a deserter. That is unacceptable. Nor would my father leave me be. I can't have that. So it is easier to go into battle than not. I simply follow the way of things.
Siegbert: So you fight because it's the path of least resistance?
Mitama: Precisely. Of course, it CAN be scary to live a life like this. If I could, I would spend all day, every day at home sleeping. But were I to do so, it would only make things worse for me. So I fight.
Siegbert: But then you're just getting swept away by life. You are a victim of fate. I don't understand why you would want that.
Mitama: Because we are all victims of fate. Some of us simply accept it. In any case. I'm late for my nap! I will take my leave of you now.

Siegbert: Thank you. I wanted to say that I know my own reason for risking my life in battle. I do it for my friends and my kingdom. I would gladly give my life for them. Some fight for honor. Others for money. Others still only for family. There is no one cause we all fight for. And yet...we all fight and are united.
Mitama: I see. That makes sense. But it doesn't change how I feel. Everyone would still be happier at home than at war.
Siegbert: But they may not still have a home if not for the war. It is the same for you. You will not have the rest you desire without war, correct?
Mitama: Hm. A very good point. I will have to think on this. Thank you, Siegbert. Now, I should get to bed, if that's all right with you.
Siegbert: Very well. Good night, Mitama. Have a good night's sleep. When you wake, we go to battle again.
Mitama: How dreadful. I hope the fighting ends soon.

Mitama: Yes, because you woke me.
Siegbert: Ah, right. Sorry.
Mitama: I hope you have a very good reason for waking me from my slumber.
Siegbert: I do. There is something I wanted to tell you. Something very important to me.
Mitama: ...By which you mean something not important to me, correct? Good night. Please do not wake me up again.
Siegbert: Hold on! It will just take a second.
Mitama: You truly won't allow me to sleep until you've had your say, will you?
Siegbert: Sorry, but...I really must tell you now.
Mitama: Fine. You have five seconds.
Siegbert: I only get five seconds?!
Mitama: Four.
Siegbert: I-I like you! Please be mine!
Mitama: ...
Siegbert: Mitama?
Mitama: OK. I will.
Siegbert: You what?!
Mitama: I have feelings for you, too, Siegbert. Well, good night, then.
Siegbert: Huh?!
Mitama: Let's talk more about this when I wake up. I want to sleep now.
Siegbert: Um, OK. Good night, Mitama.
Mitama: From now on...
Siegbert: Hm?
Mitama: I think my dreams...will be about you. I cannot wait.
Siegbert: Mitama...
Mitama: Good night, Siegbert!
Siegbert: Good night, Mitama.

Caeldori: Hah! Hya! Take THAT!!
Siegbert: Very impressive. You really know your way around a naginata.
Caeldori: Siegbert! Hello there. You think so? I didn't think I was doing anything fancy.
Siegbert: Not in so many words, no. But the ease with which you handle your weapon... It's remarkable. Truly.
Caeldori: Ah. It probably only seems so because I've practiced with it since I was little. If you spend enough time doing anything, you'll grow used to it.
Siegbert: Come on, don't be so humble! Your skill is apparent at first sight. And I hear that in addition to your skills with a lance, you are very well educated.
Caeldori: Oh, stop. You're going to make me blush.
Siegbert: No, really. You're very impressive, Caeldori. I see now why everyone calls you genius.
Caeldori: A genius? I'm not so sure about that.
Siegbert: No, no. I'm sure of it. The throne should belong to someone like you...
Caeldori: Pardon? I couldn't hear you.
Siegbert: ...I'm sorry. It's nothing. Please, excuse me. I have some things to attend to.
(Siegbert leaves)
Caeldori: Siegbert looked awfully upset. I hope he's all right.

Siegbert: Damn it all…
Caeldori: Siegbert? Are you all right?
Siegbert: Hm? Oh, yes. I'm just worried about something. It's silly, really.
Caeldori: Huh? That's not silly. Everyone has worries, you know.
Siegbert: I suppose you're right. Maybe I'm being too hard on myself. Thank you.
Caeldori: Would you like to talk about it? It might make you feel better.
Siegbert: A good point. Very well. I'll take you up on that.
Caeldori: Perfect! So what's wrong?
Siegbert: Well, I've been worried about whether I'm fit to be the king of Nohr someday. When I think of all the things a great leader must be, and then look in the mirror... I find myself...wanting.
Caeldori: In what ways?
Siegbert: A king must be a paragon, capable of leading his people in both war and peace. He must excel at combat, diplomacy, administration, history, and law. And he should know his people intimately... In short: he must be perfect. If he is not, he does not deserve the power vested in him. But I excel nowhere. All around me, I see my superiors in every talent and subject. Nor can I even claim to be well rounded... I am not fit for the throne.
Caeldori: That was quite the speech. This must have been troubling you for a long time. I think that the people would, of course, be happy with a perfect monarch. But they do not expect or need one. Such rulers are the stuff of fairy tales. Even the hero-kings of old were not perfect, whatever the stories. I wouldn't worry so much. There's no such thing as a perfect person.
Siegbert: I'm not so sure about that.
Caeldori: Hm?
Siegbert: To be frank...you appear to be one such person. Someone gifted at everything. You are kind, generous, and bright. You are a fierce warrior and brilliant thinker. Perhaps only very few are gifted with genius such as yours. But...some are. You are proof. And the rest of us are so unlucky as to be only witnesses to it.
Caeldori: ... I see.
Siegbert: I apologize for my outburst...
Caeldori: Good day, Siegbert.
(Caeldori leaves)
Siegbert: Gods, I am such a fool...

Siegbert: Caeldori?
Caeldori: Siegbert.
Siegbert: I would like to apologize for what I said. About you being gifted with perfection. It was...insensitive of me.
Caeldori: It's fine. It's not as though you were the first to say such things.
Siegbert: It is not fine. You tried to console me in a moment of weakness. But I was paying attention only to my own pain, so much so that I didn't notice yours. It was insulting to say you were simply lucky or gifted. You have worked extremely hard for your skills. I am so sorry. I have failed you as an ally and a friend.
Caeldori: Siegbert... You haven't failed me. If anything, you understand me better than most. Thank you. And, for what it's worth, I think you'll be a great king.
Siegbert: Haha. When you say it, I can almost believe it.
Caeldori: You will be. I'm sure of it. You are capable of perceiving the needs, pains, and desires of others. This is the most important ability a king can have. I believe you will do incredible things.
Siegbert: Thank you, Caeldori. That means a lot to me.
Caeldori: Anytime, my friend.

Siegbert: Caeldori! May I have a moment?
Caeldori: Hello, Siegbert. How can I help you?
Siegbert: I have a question for you. Do you have any admirers right now?
Caeldori: Huh?! Why should that matter?! It's none of your business!
Siegbert: I'm sorry! I didn't mean to offend! Let me try again... Heya, Caeldori! I was wondering...is there anyone around camp you fancy? Bah, that's not right either...
Caeldori: Why are you so curious?
Siegbert: Is it a weird thing to ask? I thought friends asked each other about this kind of thing all the time! Hahaha...
Caeldori: You can't just laugh your way out of this one, Siegbert. Why do you want to know?
Siegbert: *gulp* Here.
Caeldori: Is this...a ring?!
Siegbert: Yes. One that's been passed down in my family for generations. I want you to have it.
Caeldori: Wh-what is it for?
Siegbert: It's a gift. I...I want to be with you, Caeldori.
Caeldori: You do? Really?
Siegbert: I'm sorry. I know it must seem like this came from out of nowhere. But I couldn't hide my feelings from you any longer. Will you be with me?
Caeldori: Oh, Siegbert... You have no idea how long I've waited to hear you say that... The truth is, I feel the same way.
Siegbert: You do?!
Caeldori: Of course I do!
Siegbert: Haha...and to think, I almost gave up hope. Heh. You look a little flustered, Caeldori.
Caeldori: Oh, hush! So do you!
Siegbert: Maybe so...but I never expected to see YOU so red! You're always so calm!
Caeldori: W-well how am I supposed to look?! I never expected...never dreamed... In the past, all of my feelings have gone unrequited... I assumed that this time would be no different...
Siegbert: Well, you need not worry about that. I have eyes only for you, Caeldori.
Caeldori: Thank you, Siegbert... You've made me so happy today.
Siegbert: Here's to our future together! May it be a long and happy one.
Caeldori: To our future!
