— Laverton

Laverton (Japanese: ラベルトン Laberthon) is a captain in Begnion's Imperial Occupation Army in Daein. He led the Begnion forces in control of Terin, in the Free State of Marado, during one of the first battles of Micaiah's Daein Liberation Army. His attempts to use the threat of killing hostages to force Micaiah to stand down backfired when this instead provoked Fiona, formerly an ally, to fight back to save her people.

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

Role

Laverton is the boss of the second stage of Part I, Chapter 6, and acts as the commander of the Occupying Army units in this chapter. The objective of the second stage is to defeat Laverton.

Personality

Laverton is a dishonest, unscrupulous coward, as not only was he willing to murder civilians if it meant convincing his enemies to lay down their arms, but once he got his way he was willing to kill the civilians anyway simply because he had no need for them.[1] On the other hand, he quite vocally did not like being called on his dishonorable behavior by Micaiah, or her questioning about whether this was acceptable conduct for a Begnion knight.[2] Even before she turned on him, he did not trust Fiona or her knights at all, as a result of how the Marado territory did not come to the aid of their own country during the Mad King's War.[3]

Quotes

Y-you pretentious little fools. I'll show you how insignificant you are! Witness Begnion's might!
— Laverton, as the boss of Part I, Chapter 6 in Radiant Dawn.
Micaiah: Making hostages of the helpless... Is that how knights of the great Begnion Empire operate?
Laverton: Shut up, shut up, shut up!

— Laverton, when fighting Micaiah in Part I, Chapter 6 of Radiant Dawn.
Laverton: General Jarod will never, ever overlook this betrayal! Marado will be put to the torch, and your people will be put to the sword. You will rue this day!
Fiona: Empty threats! My fate lies in defending my country and my people. You don't stand a chance against that kind of loyalty!

— Laverton, when fighting Fiona in Part I, Chapter 6 of Radiant Dawn.
Laverton: Wh-what kind of monster are you?! A su-sub-human? B-but, there are no wolf sub-humans!
Volug: ...
Laverton: Don't just stand there! Say something, you vile beast!

— Laverton, when fighting Volug in Part I, Chapter 6 of Radiant Dawn.
