Kabura Ya

A kabura-ya is an arrow used in feudal Japan with a hollowed-out, turnip-shaped bulb that whistles when it moves through the air. Kabura-ya were used for ritual purposes in war such as warding off evil spirits, but were used less often as war became less ritualistic.
