— Agony

Agony (Japanese: デス Death) is one of two leaders of a band of beast laguz bandits who claimed a treasure-filled ruin in the Desert of Death as their territory. Along with his fellow leader of the band, Pain, he attacked Micaiah and the Dawn Brigade when they were drawn into their ruin by a voice Micaiah heard.

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

Role

Agony is one of two bosses of Part I, Chapter 4, along with Pain, and acts as the commander of one of the two separate "Laguz Bandits" factions in the chapter, with four other enemies assigned to his faction. The chapter's objective is to rout the enemy, including Agony.

Agony starts the chapter unshifted, with his transform gauge at 25 points.

Quotes

Battle quotes

Grrruah! Puny little humans, come and fight!
— Agony, as the boss of Part I, Chapter 4 of Radiant Dawn.
Agony: Oooohhhh...a beorc mage. Shiny, sparkly magic makes me soooo scared.
Micaiah: We do not want your treasures, and we mean no ill will. Step back, and we will not harm you.
Agony: If the fire don't roar like a furnace, it don't scare me! Mwah-ha-ha! I'm gonna rip your throat out!

— Agony, when fighting Micaiah in Part I, Chapter 4 of Radiant Dawn.

Death quotes

Grrrua...gack! What happened to me...
— Agony, as the boss of Part I, Chapter 4 in Radiant Dawn.

Trivia

  • Some of Agony's stats contrast Pain's to suggest a sort of theme of duality between the two: his heaven affinity contrasts Pain's earth affinity, his stable type 2 biorhythm contrast's Pain's erratic type 3 one, and his higher skill and speed stats contrast Pain's higher strength and defense stats.
  • Eccentric bandit pairs appear to be somewhat of a tradition in Fire Emblem series games, pairs like Pain and Agony appear in other games as well; examples include: Rose and Maggie, Paul and Jasmine, Victor and Vincent, and Llewelyn and Lloyd.
