Veronica (Japanese: ヴェロニカ Veronica) is the initial antagonist of Fire Emblem Heroes. Veronica and her Emblian Empire seek to conquer Askr and the outrealms.
Role
There are two different variations of Veronica appearing Heroes. The normal variation of Veronica is a non-playable character that serves as one of the game's major antagonists; many of this variation's actions are detailed in the paragraphs below. A brave variation of Veronica, based on her dressed like her brother, was made available on August 21, 2018 as part of the summoning event surrounding the launch of the Arrival of the Brave update.
Veronica is the current empress of Embla, and uses her empire's might to attack Askr and many worlds in the outrealms. Virtually all enemies fought in Heroes are under Veronica's influence.
Veronica is first mentioned in Part 2 of the Prologue as having put Minerva under contract, before finally appearing in person in the following part, encountering the Summoner for the first time, before commanding Xander into battle. Through most of the rest of the game's launch-day chapters, and a number of instances afterward as well, Veronica's tactics involve invading other realms and influencing people there into facing off against the Order of Heroes.
In Chapter 9, Veronica changes up her tactics and brings characters back into Zenith with her in preparation to invade Askr. Her tactics are initially believed to be targeting the Askran capital, but part 4 sees a mysterious man (in reality, her brother Bruno) tip off the Order of Heroes toward Veronica's real invasion target--the Askran summoning ruins; as it turns out, Veronica seeks to destroy the summoning ruins to render the Summoner powerless. Thanks to Bruno tipping off the Order, the following part, the only instance in a narrative chapter in Book I where Veronica is fought as a boss, sees her plans to render the Summoner powerless stopped.
Veronica is the central character of Xenologue 1, where Ephraim is witnessed attempting to fight against the contract placed on him before Veronica tasks him and five others into fighting off against an intruding Order of Heroes. It is this chapter's aftermath that shows Veronica to be a somewhat lonesome individual, as her brother asks her if she's felt odd as of late, as if being controlled by someone else; Veronica reveals that she has heard a voice commanding her to kill. This is the first hint of a curse on the Emblian royal bloodline, and that Veronica is affected by this curse; Part 1 of Paralogue 3 reveals that Bruno seeks to break this curse not just for his own sake, but for Veronica's as well, with part 3 seeing Bruno, under his Zacharias identity, hint that Veronica was not the true enemy.
Part 5 of Chapter 10 sees Veronica attempt to trap the Summoner in the World of Radiance in a prelude to their death; she fails in this task due to Bruno, presenting himself in his Zacharias identity, interfering.
Xenologue 2 sees a mysterious figure introduce Veronica to the Tempest, and proceeds to invade the Tower of Heaven in an attempt to tap into the Tempest's potential. The xenologue in question serves as the backstory for the Tempest Trials game mode, the first edition of which notably sees Veronica as its final boss.
Veronica first appears in Book II in Part 1 of Chapter 2, revealing that she has joined forces with the kingdom of Múspell to destroy Askr. She is currently unaware of Surtr's long-term intentions, as Part 5 of Chapter 3 has Surtr hint toward potentially turning on Veronica and destroying Embla once he's done with Askr.

Personality and character
Veronica was born to the Emblian Emperor's first wife, and follows in her father's footsteps as one who craves conquest.[1] The death of the previous emperor put Zenith into a short period of peace that was quickly shattered after Veronica's rise to power. Veronica and her father's actions, warfare for the good of Embla, are popular polices among the people of Embla.[2]
Otherwise, Veronica seems to be quite lonesome despite her popularity.
Other appearances
As part of a collaboration coinciding with the release of Fire Emblem Heroes, two items based on Veronica's appearance were made available in Miitomo. Both her wig and her outfit were obtainable in several colors via the in-app game, Miitomo Drop, from February 3rd to March 2nd, 2017.[3]
