“ | Invisible enemies? Oh, no! What will you do? I mean, what can I do? I am Ignatius, son of Benny, one of Nohr's most formidable knights. You can have...confidence in me. (Come on, come on. Look her in the eyes. You're a knight, dammit!) All right, you two run past. I'll stand my ground here and fight them off. I swear that I won't let them inside. But summon more help, if you can. | ” | — Ignatius |

Two Defenders (Japanese: 守り守られる者 Protectors of the Protector) is the seventeenth paralogue chapter in Fire Emblem Fates. As a paralogue chapter, its events are not integral to the game's main storyline and can be done at the player's leisure. The chapter is unlocked after both clearing chapter 13 in Conquest or clearing chapter 14 in Revelation, and have Benny married.
In this chapter, Benny's son, Ignatius, has fled his Deeprealm in search of Benny and runs into a village under attack by mysterious invaders. Benny vows to come to Ignatius's aid, bringing the rest of Corrin's army with him.

Two Defenders/Script
We witness Ignatius marching along in an isolated village in far western Nohr, stating that he hopes his father will be glad to see him, but the closer he gets to the heart of Nohr, the more enemies he sees, and deduces that there's trouble everywhere in this village; as Ignatius runs into a child and an old woman, he learns that the village is under attack by enemies that go unseen. Ignatius, stating himself as the son of Benny, one of Nohr's most formidable knights, vows to defend the village while the old woman and the child seek additional help. The old woman and the child run into Benny, who then explain Ignatius's plight; upon learning that Ignatius is defending the village, Benny vows to come to Ignatius's aid with the vengenace of ten thousand men. Battle preparations take place at this point; the battle begins once preparations are finished.
Should Benny speak with Ignatius, Ignatius, not realizing he's speaking to Benny, vows to cut Benny down where he stands to keep him from entering the village; as soon as Benny announces his presence, Ignatius realizes his mistake and backs off, after which Benny asks Ignatius to step back and let him handle the work. Ignatius states that he's ready to do his part and that it's his turn to do the protecting, after which Benny and Ignatius vow to defend the village together; the player may now control Ignatius at this point.
Once the battle ends, Benny notices the strength Ignatius has developed, to which Ignatius states that he's not strong--and that he would have died had Benny not come to the rescue; Ignatius states that he needs proper training, to which Benny agrees.
Summary
Benny's son, Ignatius, is defending a village under attack by monsters. When Benny hears this, he rushes to his side and discovers his son fighting bravely in combat.

Note: The returning characters list only those recruited by the time this chapter can first be unlocked (after completing chapter 13 in Conquest or after completing chapter 14 in Revelation). Felicia is only a returning character if Corrin is male, while Jakob is only a returning character if Corrin is female. As a paralogue chapter, there is no set timeframe in which the chapter must be taken on; thus, it is possible to have recruited more characters than the above by the point the chapter is started.
