The Final Test is the seventh chapter of New Mystery of the Emblem and the seventh of its eight prologue chapters. There are two variations of this chapter, which allow the player to recruit either Est or Cain:
- The Final Test (Est): This variation is reached by choosing the "No" option in the conversation with Katarina at the end of the previous chapter. In this variation, Est is the chapter boss and is recruited at the end of it.
- The Final Test (Cain): This variation is reached by choosing the "Yes" option in the conversation with Katarina at the end of the previous chapter. In this variation, Cain is the chapter boss and is recruited at the end of it.
