Before the chapter proper, the second of three army reassignments will happen. The upcoming Runan chapters have many enemies using shields, as well as a desert chapter, so magic users do better in Runan’s army. Fliers also do well in the desert chapter, but Holmes’ has two upcoming sea maps where flying is useful. If the player wishes to play chapter 26B, be sure to assign strong indoor fighters to Runan’s army, such as Samson or the newly-obtained Zacharia. Additionally, be sure to assign Meriah and Rishel to Runan’s army, as it will cause an event which gives the Aura Rain tome.
Chapter 24 has many catapults, which are extremely inaccurate but deal significant damage. Zacharia is extremely useful here, as he has massive defense and HP, and is dodgy enough to reliably dodge the catapults. Alternatively, if Meriah has gained at least one point in magic, Mel can use the Magic Staff (which can be obtained by assigning Mel and Roger to Holmes’ route during the first split and visiting the Tenole of Mars) on Meriah, and she can use the Aura Rain tome to one-shot all of the enemy catapults.
Also, be sure to bring a couple Bridge Keys.
