Beyond the Legend is the fifth chapter in TearRing Saga: Yutona Heroes War Chronicles.
Plot
- Main article:
TearRingSaga:Beyond the Legend/Script
Runan and his forces arrive too late to stop Guenchaos from mortally wounding Ezenbah. Guenchaos departs and leaves the cleanup in the hands of his subordinate Dagon. During the ensuing battle, Runan recruits Zeek, a former knight of Barge and slave of the Gerxel Empire, and Maruju, Ezenbah's heir and grandson. Ultimately, Runan emerges victorious, Dagon escapes, and Ezenbah dies in Enteh's arms. Maruju's mother Sylphis bequeaths Ezenbah's personal tome Wundergust to Maruju. Maruju accuses Enteh of being an unapologetic freeloader and decides to accompany Runan to get revenge on Guenchaos. Meanwhile, Codha learns of Roger's failure and imprisons Mel to ensure that he remains loyal.

Strategy
This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody. |
This map takes place entirely indoors, so all of your mounted units are forcefully dismounted for this chapter.
Whether Maruju lives long enough to get to your forces so you can recruit him is very luck-based. If the enemy decides to gang up on him, he's going down the River Styx and there's nothing you can do about it other than reset the map. His movements can be manipulated somewhat due to the fact that he always makes a beeline for Enteh, so be sure to use this to your advantage. The Distant Healing Staff you got last map will also be useful in keeping him alive.
Letting Enteh sit in the right hallway she walks into after battle preparations while sending your other units down the left hallway seems to be consistently successful in allowing Maruju to get away safely if you avoid baiting the bulk of the enemies towards your units too early. Maruju will attempt to make his way around player units, so surrounding Enteh may change his movement pattern from what is expected, inadvertently directing him to the left hallway to make his way around and putting him in the path of more enemies. Zeek's beeline for Runan may also cause this issue with Maruju if he blocks off the hallway. Basically, the best way to ensure Maruju's survival is to wait in the south hallway (move Runan to the left some first or Zeek will block Maruju's path to Enteh) and he and Zeek will make their own way towards you, though this means your units won't see much action this map.
There's no need to worry about the other mages present as there's no particular reward or punishment for their ultimate fates. They're pretty much guaranteed to be wiped out anyway.
For the most part the NPC mages should be able to kill most of the Dark Soldiers and Dark Mages, leaving Dagon for you to finish off. As mentioned, this is somewhat random, however. Due to his weapon, Dagon is helpless when attacked and he can only use his Black Hole spell every other turn. Do not be alarmed when Dagon auto-revives due to his Elixir, he'll subsequently retreat from the map and end the battle.
