I'm surprised. As laguz strategies go, it's not bad at all. We might even win, provided everything goes as planned.

Stormclouds (Japanese: 迫り来る軍勢 Approaching Military Forces) is the second chapter of part 3 of Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. In this chapter, the Laguz Alliance split their forces to engage with the Begnion Empire's forces.

Ike, Soren, Titania, Skrimir, and Ranulf are back in camp planning their next assault. Soren notes that, as they attempt to approach the capital of Sienne, the Begnion Central Army is sure to be heading their way. Ranulf reveals his plan of action to the group: to have the bird tribes attack the army's supply unit to slow their advance. Afterwards, Ike and company would meet them in the north after they are finished fighting the nobles.
Off the coast of Begnion, Naesala's and Tibarn's forces take a brief break, with Tibarn complimenting Naesala on joining the Laguz Alliance. Tibarn attempts to make Naesala reveal the reason why he became next in line to rule Kilvas, which Naesala promises to reveal if both of them survive the war. Naesala still questions Tibarn's newfound trust in him, however. In a Begnion camp, General Levail notifies a fellow soldier that he was unable to properly warn the nobles of the upcoming danger, and that they are too busy arguing with each other about rewards. Ike's army arrives at the Sestohl Plains, and begin their assault on the grounded troops in the Begnion army.
After they defeat the enemy commander, the army returns and meets up with Ranulf. As they discuss their victory, a Gallian envoy alerts them that the Central Army is approaching from the south. With the army surrounded by forces both in the north and south, Ranulf urges Skrimir to retreat, but he refuses out of pride. To change his mind, Ranulf challenges him to a fight. Ranulf is defeated, but not before injuring Skrimir's leg. Skrimir then orders his men to retreat for the moment.
Meanwhile, a soldier reports to General Zelgius that the Laguz Alliance is retreating. Zelgius is impressed by their adaptability, and orders his men to join their northern forces instead of pursuing the Alliance. In the north, Zelgius meets with Levail, who informs him that the northern forces did not have a central commander, as a result of the arguing nobles. The two also discuss how the power in Begnion has been split between the apostle and the senators, with Zelgius stating that they, as soldiers, should continue to fight in spite of the infighting of their superiors.
Beginning log
The tactics used by the Gallian army prove effective, and like Flaguerre before it, Mugill falls to claw and steel. Before Begnion can react, the laguz overwhelm the remaining border defenses and cross into the Telgam region. With both defensive keeps overrun, Telgam falls like ripe fruit at the feet of the Laguz Alliance. Inspired by their success, the alliance takes advantage of this momentum to strike toward the very heart of the Begnion Empire. Dukes Gaddos and Seliora are horrified by the speed of the laguz advance. Banding together with the landowning nobles of the northern territories, they mass armies in Seliora to oppose the Gallian assault. Using the Ribahn River, a tributary of the mighty Miscale, as a defensive front, the Begnion forces make their camps along its western bank in the Sestohl Plains.

Before the battle starts, this chapter provides an excellent chance to buy items thanks to the Silver Card, which cuts all prices in half. Because of this, it is best to stock up on useful items and weapons, mainly 1-2 range weapons, the Wyrmslayer, and forged weapons. Do note, however, that the Silver Card is taken away once the base is left; to make the absolute most of it, the Silver Card should instead be sold once the player has bought everything that they want.
