Unusually for a game in the Fire Emblem series, this chapter incorporates elements of a stealth mission. The player will earn more BEXP if they can complete the mission without getting detected; this only applies to the three soldier units patrolling the hallway, who are referred to as "Watch"; Danomill and the two myrmidons standing next to him won't sound the alarm if they spot any player units. If any non-enemy units are standing within the soldier's movement/attack range when enemy phase starts, they will sound the alarm, which will call for reinforcements, which will deny the player extra BEXP. Attacking/killing them will yield the same results, the same goes for breaking down doors instead of using keys or Volke's lockpicking skill.
Attacking/killing them will yield the same results; the same goes for breaking down doors instead of using keys or Volke's lockpicking skill.

Because of this, it is difficult to stealthily escape the map, free the prisoners, and loot all of the treasure chests in the same run. To successfully do so, the player will need to make good use Titania, Oscar, and Marcia's rescuing ability and Volke's lockpicking skills. Bear in mind that Volke is serious when he said that any thieving action will cost 50 gold, and will result in said deductions from the player's funds. The player will also need to effectively utilize Ike's ability to direct partner units; the prisoners will become partner units if spoken to with Ike (Oscar, in the case of Kieran), thus, they will need to be directed away from the soldier's movement/attack range; Brom (who is too heavy to shove or rescue) in particular is standing close enough to the door that will cause the soldiers to sound the alarm if he caught within their range. Sephiran will not become a partner unit regardless of who talks to him, and opening his cell would put him in range of the soldiers; as freeing Sephiran has no effect on the story or gameplay whatsoever and is later shown to have escaped on his own in a cutscene regardless of whether or not he's freed, it is not recommended to open his cell door if the player wants to earn the extra BEXP. Due to how long it takes to successfully sneak past the soldier units (the player needs to wait for opportune moments to slip past their detection range, which can be exacerbated by their patrol patterns, especially the one near the center of the map), it is not possible to clear the map within 12 turns, release the prisoners, and remain undetected on the same playthrough, meaning some BEXP will be forfeited regardless.
Because of this, it is difficult to stealthily escape the map, free the prisoners, and loot all of the treasure chests in the same run. To successfully do so, the player will need to make good use of Titania, Oscar, and Marcia's rescuing ability and Volke's lockpicking skills. Bear in mind that Volke is serious when he said that any thieving action will cost 50 gold, and will result in said deductions from the player's funds. The player will also need to effectively utilize Ike's ability to direct partner units; the prisoners will become partner units if spoken to with Ike (Oscar, in the case of Kieran). Thus, they will need to be directed away from the soldier's movement/attack range; Brom (who is too heavy to shove or rescue) in particular is standing close enough to the door that will cause the soldiers to sound the alarm if he caught within their range. If the player chooses to fight and successfully defeat Danomill, they will obtain their first Master Seal, an item which can allow a unit to promote to an advanced class at level 10 or higher. It can only be used by beorc units (therefore, it cannot be used on laguz units such as Lethe and Mordecai). Out of all current beorc units the player has at this point, Ike, Volke, and Titania cannot use the Master Seal (the former two promote via story events while the latter is already prepromoted). At this point in the game, Soren, Ilyana, and Mist are likely candidates for a Master Seal promotion as the former two have the option to use staves while the latter gains a mount, allowing for more flexible movement. It is not recommended to give the Master Seal to Rhys however, since the only ability he gets aside from increased stats is the ability to use light magic; light magic is not available to the player until chapter 14.

Beginning log

After his father's death places the mantle of leadership on his young shoulders, Ike agrees to continue as Elincia's escort. The company heads to the Begnion Empire, the oldest and largest nation on the continent of Tellius. As Crimea is a former fiefdom of Begnion, the princess turns to them for succor, much as a scared child returns to a parent. Many in Tellius believe that without Begnion's might and influence, Crimea's reconstruction will be nigh impossible. However, Begnion and Gallia have no diplomatic ties and are further separated by an impassable mountain range. So the company is forced to return to Crimea, where they hope to locate a ship to carry them to Begnion. Accompanied by Ranulf the warrior who has volunteered to guide them, the company leaves Castle Gallia behind. With heavy hearts and wounded spirits, they begin the long march back to Crimea.

Strategy

This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody.

Attacking/killing them will yield the same results; the same goes for breaking down doors instead of using keys or Volke's lockpicking skill.

Because of this, it is difficult to stealthily escape the map, free the prisoners, and loot all of the treasure chests in the same run.

Trivia

 • On Maniac mode, in order to recruit each of the recruitable units in this chapter the player must have them escape the map. In other difficulties, the player only needs to open their cell doors to recruit them.
