Mount Violdrake/Script
Leif's group leaves Castle Meath; they are accompanied by Carrion, a knight working under Hannibal, who is guiding them through the mountains to Tarrah. Once some ways into the mountains, Carrion tells Leif that they should detour to Hannibal's mansion to meet up with several survivors from Leonster hidden there under Hannibal's protection. Carrion also tells Leif that Count Dryas is there, news that Leif is happy to hear.
Unfortunately, they encounter a mountain village under attack from bandits. Leif rushes to their aid and is confused to find that several of the bandits originate from Dagdar's group; including Marty. Carrion notes that this is strange; why would Dagdar's bandits attack a village under Dagdar's protection?
Before the battle begins a man named Gomez shown instructing a Thracian mercenary named Rumei to stop any and all intruders from entering Dagdar's mansion. Leif's forces capture and interrogate Rumei; Leif is informed that Dagdar and Tanya are in the mansion and Gomez is out to kill them. Leif frees Rumei and hurries into the mansion to rescue Dagdar and Tanya.

Strategy
This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody. |
This is the first chapter that grants you access to battle preparations, so feel free to move your items and weapons around. It is also important to keep track of the fatigue level of your units and plan ahead, so make it a habit to review the state of your units before battle. As units like Fergus, Brighton or Machyua have been in your party for at least five chapters, and are likely to have seen plenty of combat, it is likely they'll have to sit out of this one due to their high fatigue. This is also a good opportunity to rest Asbel, as his boss-killing is not needed in this chapter, but is very useful in the next chapter.
The battle itself is rather simple, as Leif's forces move left to handle Brigands and reach Dagdar's mansion. This makes it a good chapter for training up units, though be mindful of the warrior. Marty has found himself on the enemy side, but when spoken to by Osian or Halvan, or captured, he will defect. Do remember that Osian has Wrath and may ORKO Marty if provoked, however.
To play the following side quest, Rumei must be captured, but not released. Do this before he mounts his wyvern on turn 16, though. However, Rumei has 14 defense due to the gate, so simply sending in mounted unit may not be enough to capture him in a timely manner due to the stat penalties when attempting a capture. Using a thief to reverse steal a crusader scroll into Rumei's inventory is very useful for whittling down his HP without risking an accidental crit. An alternative method of capturing Rumei is to simply have a thief with 7 constitution steal Rumei's Iron Sword; once it has been taken, Rumei can be captured with any unit of sufficient con.
Future chapters have plenty of doors to open, so purchasing some Door Keys at the vendor is also recommended. The Final Chapter in particular requires six different doors to be opened quickly, all in different places.
