Analysis
Analysis
analysis
Lifis joins the player upon the conclusion of Chapter 2x. As the player's first thief Lifis' base stats are rather unimpressive compared to most other units available in the party. Luckily, much to the player's fortune, Lifis is a utility-oriented unit in a very utility-oriented game.
Lifis joins the player upon the conclusion of Chapter 2x, and is the only unit besides Leif who stays in Chapter 4. As a Thief, Lifis possesses the ability to steal from foes if his speed is higher than the enemy's and if the item's weight is lower than his constitution. Lifis's base speed of 10 and constitution of 6 allows him to steal lightweight weapons, like the Rapiers from the Cavaliers in Chapter 7 or Fire, Thunder, and Wind tomes from Mages in Chapters 4–6—enemies who pose significant threats, the latter of which Lifis can completely disarm without taking damage. He can also steal Heal staves from Priests, preventing them from assisting the other enemies.

As a thief, Lifis possesses the ability to steal from foes, and the power of stealing is at an all-time high in Thracia. Provided he is faster than his target, Lifis is capable of stealing any items, weapons, and staves that have less weight than he has constitution, including equipped weapons. Lifis' 10 base speed combined with his base constitution of 6 allows him to effectively disarm enemies with lightweight weapons by stealing them.
Leaving Lifis unarmed tempts enemies to capture him when he is within range. Capturing Lifis uses the enemy's turn and reduces their stats, making them easier to defeat; however, an enemy will take all his items immediately upon capturing him, so this is best done with an empty inventory, and his constitution is sometimes too high for enemies (such as Soldiers) to capture him.

Most notably, Lifis' base constitution allows him to pilfer enemy mages' fire, thunder, and wind tomes. This is incredibly useful as Lifis also shares the distinction of being the only unit from the first few chapters of the game besides Leif that is also available throughout the entirety of the Munster Escape Arc, arguably the hardest segment of the game. Much of your playable cast in this segment lacks magic or ranged combat, and enemy mages are relatively frequent in appearance compared to earlier chapters, making them dangerous threats Lifis can easily neutralize. Leaving Lifis unarmed also tempts enemies to capture him when he is within range, not only wasting the enemy's turn, but inflicting stat penalties that will make the enemy easier to kill for your other units. However, Lifis must take care his inventory is not filled with valuable items that would get stolen by the enemy when attempting this bait. This is all on top of his standard lock-picking duties typical of thieves and the extra gold, equipment and consumables offered by his stealing.
Lifis's poor base combat, low bulk, and low luck—which makes him highly susceptible to critical hits—makes leveling him up difficult. However, Lifis receives an additional point of constitution upon promotion and can potentially receive more through level-ups (about once every ten levels normally, or once every five with the Nál Scroll found in Chapter 8x), increasing the variety of weapons he can steal.

While Lifis can be trained to some degree, this can be quite a hassle due to his poor combat and frailty, and outside of novelty isn't highly recommended. Still, the reward can be quite fun as any unit in Thracia can be made reasonably good to some degree through the use of Crusader Scrolls. One practical reason for training Lifis does exist though, that being his 10% constitution growth and +1 promotion bonus allowing him to improve his ability to steal weapons.

Overall, Lifis is a highly valuable unit in Thracia 776, with his unique mix of utility and availability giving him a powerful niche that cements him as one of the game's most useful characters, and a staple in just about any playthrough.

Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Fire Emblem Heroes

Role

Lifis was first added to the game in a special pirate variation as part of the Perilous Seas update, and was made available to players in the forty-fourth edition of the Tempest Trials+, "Ice & Flame 2", which initially ran from August 6, 2021 through August 16, 2021. The aforementioned pirate variation of Lifis is the only one currently available in Heroes, and is based on his Thracia 776 incarnation.

Endings

Lifis, Shy Thief
Lifis was one of the many to earn a post as a government official, and served as one for a short time before vanishing. During his time in office, the Kelbeth garrison wiped out the pirates still hiding in the Pirate Isles and other nearby islands. After that resounding victory, Lifis simply disappeared from the pages of history.

Lifis was once a pirate who had the area around the village of Iz on the continent of Jugdral at his mercy. I suppose the pirate festival must have rekindled his old love for buccaneering, because he's here to steal the show! Though I have to say, this outfit makes it look like he's more concerned with gathering treasure rather than being a swashbuckling pirate. Still, I think the look suits him! Lifis has quite literally taken the helm, as he's carrying a ship's wheel as his weapon. Maybe it represents his desire to leave the humble surroundings of the Iz coast and venture into the oceans beyond? Lifis seems happy to be returning to the pirate's life after so long, but I hope he doesn't get too carried away! I don't want to have to get Leif and Eyvel on his case again!
