“ | The imperial troops are becoming crueler with each passing day. It's dangerous just to be a girl anymore! But I don't plan to go down without a fight. | ” | — Lana |

Lana (Japanese: ラナ Lana) is the youngest child of Lady Edain of Yngvi. Along with her brother, Lester, she was born and raised in hiding in the Isaachian village of Tirnanog in the aftermath of the Battle of Belhalla, alongside Seliph of Chalphy and under the care of his mother, Oifey and Shannan. She was later one of the first members of Seliph's liberation army in Grann 777.
If Edain was not married in the course of the first generation, Lana's role is filled by Muirne.
Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War
Role
Upon receiving the news of the impending Dozel assault on Tirnanog in light of their discovery of its status as the rebel hideout, Lana volunteered to join Seliph in the ensuing battle; despite Seliph's insistence that "nuns and warfare do not mix", he relented when Lana refused to budge on the matter.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Lana joins the army at the start of Chapter 6 of Genealogy of the Holy War, the first chapter of the second generation. She and her brother Lester can never both be as useful as they possibly could, but while Lester needs a father with Follow-Up to be at his best, Lana will, regardless of their father, always have similar staff utility and poor combat after promotion. Aside from Claud, most fathers will have a limited impact on Lana, mostly providing her with skills and Minor Holy Blood, and she will always be able to inherit staves Edain could use at base such as Return and Physic.
The best father for Lana is Claud, as his Minor Bragi Blood will increase Lana's staff level to A, allowing her to inherit a number of useful staves in generation 2 before they would otherwise be able to be obtained, particularly the Rescue staff. Edain and Claud can have a conversation in Chapter 5 where Edain receives Rescue, and Lana will be able to inherit it from Edain and use it from Chapter 6; normally, the Rescue staff could be obtained in Chapter 10. However, as Lana will always have 5 movement, the utility of Rescue and other powerful staves will be limited; though Leif will have A staves once he promotes—allowing for a mounted unit to have access to strong staves much earlier than normal—their utility with Lana cannot improve. Additionally, as Lana inherits no skills from Claud or Edain and will always be fairly frail, Lana's combat will be mediocre. With Claud as his father, Lester will inherit no skills, no bows, and magic-oriented stats on a strength-based unit, severely inhibiting his combat potential.
Alternately, Rescue can be obtained if Azelle marries Edain. If Azelle and Edain are lovers, they can speak to each other in Chapter 4; though Lana will not have the staff level to inherit Rescue, it can still be obtained early in the second generation if it is given to Claude to pass to Ced or Coirpre, who can be recruited in Chapter 8. Azelle will pass Follow-Up to Lester, but, like Claud, cannot pass down bows and will pass unfit stats for a bow-user.
Outside of inheriting powerful staves early with Claud, Lana will have limited use. Her low movement prevents her from keeping pace with high-move mounts, and they will likely be outside of the range of far-reaching staves like Physic after only a few turns. She cannot participate in combat before promotion, and her low defenses and limited skills prevent her from exceeding as a combat unit after. She will always have the staff level to use Warp, and can be used to transport units around the map or quickly gain experience for rankings, but without significantly slowing down mounted units, her contributions beyond that will be limited.
Personality and character
While somewhat quiet and shy, Lana possesses an unbending will and a determination to help others, refusing to see herself as weak or unable to contribute to the war effort; at the same time, however, she is somewhat modest and downplays her achievements when complimented.[1] While scared of the challenges facing her and Seliph's army, she draws strength to carry on by thinking of the people for whom she is fighting.[2]
