Close Defense (Japanese: 近距離防御 Close-Range Defense) is a four-tiered passive type A skill which debuted in Fire Emblem Heroes; the individual tiers of the skill are Close Def 1, Close Def 2, Close Def 3, and Close Def 4 in order from lowest to highest. Close Defense increases the user's Defense and Resistance when attacked by an opponent wielding a sword, lance, axe, breath, or beast skill; the size of the defensive boosts increase with the skill's tier.
