“ | I will fight my hardest for you, sire. You need only give the command. | ” | — Catria, to Marth |
---|
Catria (Japanese: カチュア Katua) is a Pegasus Knight in the service of the Whitewings squadron of Macedon, under the command of Princess Minerva. She is the younger sister of Palla and the elder sister of Est. In the War of Shadows, she and the rest of the Whitewings were forced to comply with the whims of Dolhr through the hostage-taking of Minerva's sister Maria, but she defected almost as soon as she heard that Marth had freed Maria from captivity. Three years later, she sought Marth's assistance in fighting Lykke's coup against Minerva.
Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light
Role
Catria and the Whitewings were deployed to the skirmish of Lefcandith Valley under Harmein, but pulled out after Minerva refused to comply with Harmein's questionable tactics. Later, Minerva sent Catria to Pyrathi to find Marth and deliver a request for assistance in freeing Maria from Castle Deil; this resulted in Minerva defecting to the Archanea League army headed by Marth, but by this time the other Whitewings had been scattered on different deployments to attempt to avert this very defection.
In the battle for Gra, much to the disgust of King Jiol, Palla and Catria were deployed to assist Jiol in repelling Marth's army; instead, the two approached Marth and rejoined Minerva in his army.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Catria joins in Chapter 14 as a level 3 Pegasus Knight. Her bases are low for that point of the game, but her growths are excellent and her base speed is high enough to double enemies with no investment. Catria's base weapon level is 10, which is high enough to use most lances in the game, giving Catria more attacking power despite her low base strength.
Catria starts at a low level and joins an army that may have plenty of good units, but she can still excel with investment. Her growths are among the highest in the game, and her promotion bonuses from Wyvern Knight grant her a significant durability and damage boost and two points of movement. A promoted Catria can be one of the strongest and most flexible units in the game, but requires significant investment to reach that point.
Fire Emblem Gaiden
Role
Catria and Palla travelled to Valentia in pursuit of the pirate lord Grieth, who had taken Est prisoner. The two encountered Celica at the Port of Zofia, and Catria explained their plight to her; the two encountered Celica again in a skirmish with pirates along Zofia's coast. After the fight, the two joined Celica's army to help in their search for Est.

Catria joins in Act 3 of Celica's route alongside Palla as a level 5 Pegasus Knight. She joins with the Angel Ring, which increases the user's luck to 40 and doubles their level-up gains. Her base stats are well-rounded, with good strength, high speed, and decent defenses.
Upon reaching level 14, Catria can promote to Falcon Knight at a Mila Shrine, which is among the best classes in Gaiden. Falcon Knight has 12 base defense and resistance, increasing Catria's durability significantly, and the Slayer skill, providing Catria with effective damage against monsters; monsters are very common in later portions of Celica's route, and Catria can defeat them easily as a Falcon Knight.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Catria joins the army in Chapter 14 of Shadow Dragon as a level 5 Pegasus Knight. Her base stats are decent for her level, and she has solid growths across the board. Catria's base speed is high enough to avoid getting doubled by most enemies even in higher difficulties, improving her survivability, although enemy bow users will still one-shot her. Catria's base C rank in lances allows her to use effective lances like the Ridersbane and Dragonpike with no investment, making it easier for her to gain experience, since she can one-shot enemy cavalry and deal significant damage to dragons. She is also a good user of the Killer Lance in her inventory.
Catria is outclassed by a number of units at base, but can contribute immediately with strong lances. With her good growths and a promotion to Dracoknight, Catria can become among the better combat units. While Catria will greatly benefit from a promotion, Master Seals are competitive, and she will face particular competition from Palla, who needs fewer levels to promote and gains similar gains similar benefits from promotion. However, Catria has fairly strong growths, and will likely have more speed than Palla in the long term.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Catria joins in Chapter 2 as a level 6 Pegasus Knight. Her base stats are pretty good (especially her speed), and she has a base C rank in lances, allowing her to wield powerful and effective weapons like the Dragonpike and the Ridersbane with no investment. Her growth rates are also very good, which makes it likely that she will become an excellent combat unit in the long term. As a flier, Catria can move over terrain unimpeded; any female unit can reclass to a Pegasus Knight, but most other female units available early are Clerics or Mages with low strength and no innate lance rank. If more raw strength and defense are needed during the earlygame, she can be reclassed into Cavalier to wield the powerful Ladyblade, which can be obtained early in Chapter 2.
Catria can promote from Pegasus Knight to Dracoknight or Falcon Knight. Dracoknight is more durable, but has a lower speed cap of 23, which is too low to double enemies in the late-game on higher difficulty modes. However, the promotion item for Falcon Knight, the Elysian Whip, is available much later and is much more limited. Delaying Catria's promotion to access Falcon Knight has a number of benefits, especially in Lunatic Mode; the class's speed cap of 26 allows Catria to, in conjunction to the bonus from the Starsphere, double enemies with up to 24 speed, which is impossible for a Dracoknight to do. Falcon Knight's access to swords also gives her additional niches against certain enemy types, such as the Heroes in Chapter 16, whose weakness to the Swordslayer can be exploited if Catria is trained or given Arms Scrolls to reach C swords. A standard promotion with an earlier Master Seal will allow Catria to perform strongly as a Dracoknight with the obvious benefit of getting 10 movement on top of superior promotion bonuses to her strength and defense, earlier. Catria has her advantages over other possible Falcon Knight candidates thanks to her well-rounded stats; compared to her sister Palla, Catria will be able to reach the speed cap more reliably and earlier without the use of Speedwings. Caeda might seem well-suited for the class due to her high speed stat, but she preforms worse without the higher strength promotion bonus from Dracoknight during the mid-game and potentially beyond.
Fire Emblem Awakening
Two versions of Catria are playable as bonus characters: a SpotPass version, released with the New Mystery of the Emblem character set, and a DLC version as part of the Five-Anna Firefight DLC package.
Additionally, the SpotPass version of Catria appears as an enemy in the second and third Lost Bloodlines DLC chapters, and as a neutral unit in the first of the same series; in all appearances she is serving as part of Marth's army.

Analysis

Catria is a Pegasus Knight that joins in act 3 alongside her sister Palla. She comes with both high bases and growths in most areas, along with flying utility which is extremely valuable in Celica's route which is filled with maps that greatly slow down your landlocked units. Catria also has a fast support with her sister Palla which is the only unit capable of keeping up with her movement wise at that point in the game. Catria doesn't benefit too much from promotion as her bases mostly surpass those of Falcon Knights, but it still a worthwhile promotion thanks to the boost in HP, defense and movement as well as getting the Banish skill. Unfortunately Catria isn't particularly bulky and can often be taken out by 2 strong attackers, she also lacks the strength to one round bulkier enemies even with a forged silver lance. After her promotion at the end of Act 3 Catria will mostly solve her durability issues and will be an invaluable asset in every map afterwards. Overall, Catria will make the tedious maps of Celica's route vastly more enjoyable while being an excellent combat unit in her own right.
In comparison to Palla and Est
Catria joins at the same time as Palla, both have similar bases and growths, where Palla focuses more on strength while Caria focuses more on speed. Palla will likely promote first because of her higher base level, but unless given heavy resources they will both most likely promote at the end of act 3. Because of her higher speed before promotion Catria is able to double more enemies and get doubled less, making her combat better. However, if Palla is promoted before the desert, she will be the superior one because of her higher strength and bulk, while also doubling the majority of the same enemies that Catira does. Catria will eventually gain enough speed to surpass Palla's combat if trained up, but Palla will be the superior unit for the majority of the game. Est in incredibly outclassed by her sisters as she joins later than both, with lower bases and only slightly higher growths. As such she required more investment in comparison to her sisters, to even preform as well as them and will only slightly surpass them by the endgame if trained up.
Fire Emblem Heroes
Role
There are three different variations of Catria available to Heroes, the first two of which are tied to her storyline appearance in Mystery of the Emblem and the next two of which are tied to her storyline appearance in Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. The normal variation of Catria is one of the characters available to be summoned by players from the game's initial launch. A spring variation of Catria was made available between the period of March 22, 2018 through April 22, 2018 as part of the summoning event surrounding the Hares at the Fair update. A third variation of Catria, here dubbed the "Zofia's Call" variation after the name of the summoning event she debuted in for lack of a theme common to most other variant characters, is one of the characters added to the game in the Lethal Swordsman update, and became available for summoning by players on October 21, 2019. A bridal variation of Catria was made available between the period of May 20, 2021 through June 18, 2021 in a special variation as part of the summoning event surrounding the launch of the Bridal Grace update, the update where this variation was added to the game; this variation is a Harmonized Hero, carrying a dual-credit with The Binding Blade as a result of being paired up with Thea.
Although initially normally available only in four- and five-star rarities, a three-star rarity version of the normal variation of Catria was distributed as a quest reward between April 19, 2017 and May 8, 2017; a rarity pool shake-up on April 10, 2018 made the normal variation of Catria available in three-star rarity via normal summoning.

Personality and character
During her time serving in Marth's forces, she developed a romantic interest in Marth himself, which went unrequited with Marth's engagement and eventual marriage to Caeda.
Shadows of Valentia expands on her character, portraying her as the buffer between her sisters, rarely pushing her own thoughts on the matter.[1] Though she is shown to be serious, she's not entirely unfeeling, but people tend to assume she is completely stoic because she's more reserved than either Palla or Est.[2]

Trivia
- Catria is one of two characters to be playable in all seven Archanea/Valentia Fire Emblem titles: (Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light, Gaiden, Mystery of the Emblem, Archanea Saga, Shadow Dragon, New Mystery of the Emblem, and Echoes: Shadows of Valentia); the other is Est. As she is additionally playable through both SpotPass and DLC bonus characters in Awakening, she again ties with Est as the character playable in the largest number of games in the Fire Emblem series, at eight.
