Boah (Japanese: ボア Boha) was a bishop and royal advisor in the service of the Holy Kingdom of Archanea. He was tasked by the king with escorting Princess Nyna out of Pales as the forces of Dolhr moved in at the onset of the War of Shadows, and was captured and imprisoned for the rest of the war, until Nyna returned with Marth's forces to reclaim Pales. After the war, he persuaded Nyna to marry Hardin of Aurelis, and the latter's discovery of this fact played a role in his eventual descent into grief and madness, and the cause of the War of Heroes.
Role
Boah was imprisoned with Midia, Macellan, Dolph and Tomas, in a cell in Pales under the occupation of Volzhin and the forces of Dolhr. During Marth's assault on the palace and its Dolhr occupation, Boah and the other prisoners were freed and joined Marth's army.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.
|
Boah joins in Chapter 12 as a pre-promoted Bishop, the second in the game after Wendell. Of the two, Boah has higher base stats in skill, strength, and speed, equal base stats in weapon level, HP, and resistance, and inferior bases in defense; however, his growths are significantly worse in every stat except speed and defense. Also, since Wendell has much better availability and good growths, it is likely he has already surpassed Boah by the time he is recruited. Still, Boah has a high enough weapon level to use every tome and staff in the game, and being able to use these items gives him tremendous utility, even though he is overall a bit weaker than Wendell. Ultimately, Boah is a very useful unit, either as a replacement for Wendell or for additional utility, and is well worth a deployment slot.
Book 1

As in Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light, Boah was imprisoned with Midia, Macellan, Dolph and Tomas, in a cell in Pales under the occupation of Volzhin and the forces of Dolhr. During Marth's assault on the palace and its Dolhr occupation, Boah and the other prisoners were freed and joined Marth's army.

Book 2
Role
After the War of Shadows, Boah and several other Archanean nobles had decided to, for the purpose of the restoration of Archanea, strongly encourage Nyna to marry Prince Hardin of Aurelis; though initially reluctant, out of continued feelings for the lost Camus and of a lack thereof for Hardin, but eventually gave in to the pressure. Some time into the marriage, Hardin learned of this and of Nyna's lack of reciprocation of his love for her, and this is what caused him to enter a deep depression, paving the way for Gharnef to enter the palace disguised as a merchant, offer him the Darksphere and twist him into a vicious despot. As such, Boah's actions were the catalyst for the chain of events which eventually became the War of Heroes.
At some point afterward, Hardin attacked and gravely wounded Boah for his role in the marriage to Nyna. Boah survived long enough to encounter Marth as he prepared to storm Pales itself and end Hardin's tyranny, and explained to Marth and Jagen his role in Hardin's rise, expressing great regret for it. Boah then dies and, as such, is not playable.
Role
When the army of Dolhr came to lay siege to Pales at the onset of the War of Shadows, Boah was entrusted by the king of Archanea with the job of escorting Princess Nyna to safety, and convened a group of knighs to protect her on the way. The group was instead cornered by Dolhr's forces and was forced to try and fight its way out. In the end, they were defeated and captured upon the arrival of Camus, and were imprisoned in the palace, where they remained for three years until Marth arrived with Nyna.

Role
As in Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light, Boah was imprisoned with Midia, Macellan, Dolph and Tomas, in a cell in Pales under the occupation of Volzhin and the forces of Dolhr. He realizes that they are no longer needed as prisoners and prepares to be executed if Marth does not reach them in time. During Marth's assault on the palace and its Dolhr occupation, Boah and the other prisoners were freed and joined Marth's army.
Later, Boah can have a conversation with Astram in which they discuss Archanea's role in the war and what will happen afterwards. It is here that Boah suggests that Princess Nyna marry a foreign man to help restore Archanea.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.
|
Boah joins in Chapter 12 as a level 1 pre-promoted Bishop. His base stats are poor overall, and his growths are also low. Boah can survive one hit with less than 27 attack; he can usually survive in lower difficulties if he is not doubled, but in higher difficulties, he will get one-rounded by most enemies.
Boah joins with no items, but high enough weapon ranks to use most tomes and staves with no investment. His C rank in staves allows him to use Warp and Physic, making him a useful support unit, while his B rank in tomes allows him to use most available tomes, including Excalibur. Other units like Lena and Wendell excel as support units and are available earlier, but Boah can still contribute with no investment. Additionally, as he is already promoted, Boah does not need to compete for a Master Seal to gain higher stats from promoted classes.
Role
As in Mystery of the Emblem, after the War of Shadows, Boah and several other Archanean nobles had decided to, for the purpose of the restoration of Archanea, strongly encourage Nyna to marry Prince Hardin of Aurelis; though initially reluctant, out of continued feelings for the lost Camus and of a lack thereof for Hardin, but eventually gave in to the pressure. Boah survived long enough to encounter Marth as he prepared to storm Pales itself and end Hardin's tyranny, and explained to Marth and Jagen his role in Hardin's rise, expressing great regret for it. Boah then dies and, as such, is not playable in the main story.
