Trec is the third cavalier you get in The Binding Blade and joins alongside Zelots as a green unit. Trec is in a rather unfortunate position, as he joins in chapter 7 which is arguably the hardest chapter in the game, while being underleveled and coming with bad bases and weapon ranks. He can die very easily and it's quite risky to get to him, so he's often the reason why so many players find chapter 7 to be RNG based, though it is possible to rescue chain Roy to Zelots by turn 2 and safely recruit both of them. It's almost cruel to compare him to Alen and Lance as his bases aren't even that much better than theirs and their growths are pretty equal overall, Trec mostly focusing on defense. Trec does have better growths than Noah, but he lacks Noah's C rank in swords and higher bases which gives Noah at least some kind of niche over the Christmas cavaliers. His weapon ranks are horrible too, joining with the same weapon ranks as the Christmas cavs, despite both of them likely having reached D rank in swords and C rank in lances by this point. Another problem with Trec is his mediocre speed and skill, it will take a while for him to start doubling consistently and the low hit rates of weapons in The Binding Blade make his 30% skill growth a notable flaw. Still, Trec does have to offer valuable mounted utility, which is quite useful in the large maps of The Binding Blade, however many much better units such as the Christmas cavs, Shanna, Zelots, Clarine, Noah and even Sue posses a mount, while also offering better combat or some other form of utility over Trec. If the player is determined to use Trec, he benefits greatly from an early promotion, allowing him to function as a more defense oriented paladin, although he we mostly be a filler combat unit and there's little reason to give him the first Knight Crest and stat-boosting items instead of giving it to better candidates.
