On turn 1, have your artillery kill the Thief. If you don't, you're almost certainly going to have to get someone killed to stop him from taking the Aum staff. After that, start making your way clockwise around the map. A couple of Magestone Manaketes, a Sniper, and a Bishop like to outflank you through the mountains, so leave some decent soldiers to act as a rearguard. Starting on turn 8 and going on every 3 turns until turn 50, enemy reinforcements will pop out of some of the fortresses. Have your cavalry bum rush them and plug up the forts so you can advance safely. Don't forget to pay a visit to the temple to claim the Aum staff and do your last bit of shopping at the secret shop in the southwest corner before finishing the map.

In ''Shadow Dragon'', if you finish the chapter without Tiki and the Falchion, you will head to Chapter 24x. You can also take advantage of an exploit to go to 24x even if you have Tiki and Falchion: to do so, place the Falchion in her inventory and get her killed. You will be sent to 24x and the Falchion will be placed in your convoy. Afterwards, you can use the Aum Staff to resurrect Tiki if you so desire. There's a choice to be made here; skipping 24x gives you Gotoh, who comes packing the second Thoron tome, the only playable Swarm tome, the third Fortify staff, a free Recover staff, and the weapon ranks to use valuable weapons such as Excalibur and Warp. He also has built-in 1-2 range, letting him safely engage most of Medeus' minions. Going to 24x gives you another chapter worth of experience, gives you second copies of Excalibur, Aura, and the Divinestone, and gives you Nagi, a Manakete who can take a good chunk out of enemy Manaketes.
