Lyre is one of the weakest units in Radiant Dawn, and is often considered a contender for one of the worst units in the series. Even with her transformed bonuses, Lyre's bases are very low for her to contribute meaningfully on Normal mode, let alone Hard mode. Her greatest selling point, her speed, is lower at base than the likes of the other Greil Mercenaries units, mainly Mia, Ike, and Shinon—all of whom join several chapters earlier than her. As a laguz unit, Lyre has no access to forged weaponry to boost her attack power, nor any form of promotion bonuses, so the only way to have her contribute any way in combat is to give her a large sum of bonus experience and several stat boosting items. Lyre additionally suffers from her status as a laguz unit; as she can only initiate combat when transformed, she must spend her first, or first few, turns building up her transformation gauge using items such as Laguz Gems or Olivi Grass. Even when transformed, Lyre is locked to 1 range, leaving her defenseless against any range attackers. Said transformation is also temporary, wearing off over time as she engages combat, and also penalizes her experience gain. To make things worse for Lyre's situation, her class, Cat, loses its transformation gauge at a very fast rate, meaning she requires lots of item investment to stay transformed for a prolonged time, which often is not worth it given her poor combat. | Lyre is one of the weakest units in Radiant Dawn, and is often considered a contender for one of the worst units in the series. Lyre has thunder affinity which gives a defense and avoid boost. She synergises well with Mia or Boyd as they have the useful faire affinity which gives additional attack, while they appreciate the defense and avoid boost, while Boyd and Mia also have the same movement as untransformed Lyre. | Lyre has thunder affinity which gives a defense and avoid boost. Lyre is one of the weakest units in Radiant Dawn, and is often considered a contender for one of the worst units in the series. Even with her transformed bonuses, Lyre's bases are very low for her to contribute meaningfully on Normal mode, let alone Hard mode. Her greatest selling point, her speed, is lower at base than the likes of the other Greil Mercenaries units, mainly Mia, Ike, and Shinon—all of whom join several chapters earlier than her, while also having access to stronger, more versatile weaponry.
Lyre has thunder affinity which gives a defense and avoid boost. She synergises well with Mia or Boyd as they have the useful faire affinity which gives additional attack, while they appreciate the defense and avoid boost, while Boyd and Mia also have the same movement as untransformed Lyre.
