Laura is first introduced right as the Dawn Brigade are fleeng Nevassa. She asks them for help in retrieving medicine for a sick abbot that Begnion soldiers stole. She joins the Dawn Brigade to support them as a healer. After retrieving the medicine, Laura is taken hostage by [[Jarod]], who uses her to capture [[Micaiah]] before releasing her. Laura then aids in helping Micaiah escape from Glaive Prison, during which she meets [[Aran]] and convinces him to defect.

Laura is the first and only [[staff]] user in Part I. As the only reliable healer of the Dawn Brigade, she is very useful for supporting combat units in Part I, to ensure they do not use their player phases to consume healing items to restore their [[HP]]. Her base [[Magic (stat)|magic]] is decent enough to perform her healing duties. She has terrible base physical durability and base [[speed]], so she often dies in one hit and cannot [[Avoid|dodge]] very well; she is frequently doubled as well. Thus it is vital to keep her away from combat as much as possible.
