“ | I...I won't betray anyone. I won't fight against the people of Nohr after you cared for me all these years. You and Camilla, Leo and Elise...We might not be related by blood, but you are family to me. You've been with me for as long as I can remember. | ” | — Corrin, to Xander |

“ | ...No. I refuse to fight against my Hoshidan siblings, either. Ryoma...we might not have spent much time together, but you are my family too. You, Hinoka, Takumi, Sakura...I don't want to fight with you on this or any other battlefield. | ” | — Corrin, to Ryoma |

Into the Ground (Japanese: 狭間へ沈みゆく Sinking in Between) is the sixth chapter of the Revelation campaign in Fire Emblem Fates. In this chapter, Corrin has made his/her fateful decision to not take sides in the giant family squabble, and thus ends up having to face off against forces from both Hoshido and Nohr who did not take this decision lightly.
Plot

Into the Ground/Script - The below plot corresponds to the use of a male Corrin. If you refresh this page, it is possible to get an alternate reading using a female variation instead.
Continuing from Corrin's decision having not to take sides in the conflict between Hoshido and Nohr, he first tells Xander and then Ryoma that he will not betray any of his family--including Camilla, Leo, Elise, Hinoka, Takumi, and Sakura; after stating his intentions, he asks both Xander and Ryoma to set their swords aside as he is sure a peaceful solution exists. As Corrin is about to speak further, Xander and Ryoma begin squabbling again, each vowing to be the one to drum some sense into Corrin; as Corrin deduces that Xander and Ryoma won't listen to him, he states that he has to step in if he hopes to stop them.
As Corrin states that he needs to get Ryoma's and Xander's attention in order to stop their fighting, Azura suggests that they attack the groups closest to them--if they defeat the forward commanders, Ryoma and Xander can't possibly ignore them; Felicia runs onto the scene, states that she made it to the scene in time, and tells Corrin she's glad that he's safe, to which Corrin asks Felicia what she's doing in the area. Felicia states that she was panicking after being separated from Corrin, spending all of her time trying to figure out where he went, and states that she doesn't know what's going on but he can count on her for help; Corrin states that he's grateful for Felicia's presence, after which Felicia asks which army they're fighting having apparently witnessed no apparent allies--after which Corrin states that they're fighting both the Hoshidan and Nohrian armies as he's chosen not to side with either country. Felicia, shocked to find Corrin has made enemies of both Hoshido and Nohr, asks Corrin what he's gotten himself into, then vows to help him to the best of her ability.
Once the battle ends, a tired Corrin notes that they've gotten the Hoshidans and Nohrians to stop fighting for the moment, after which both Ryoma and Xander accuse Corrin of betraying them; Corrin attempts to insist that he's betrayed nobody, but to no avail as both Xander and Ryoma deem Corrin a traitor to their respective country. Azura deduces that nothing Corrin says can convince either Xander or Ryoma, thus they need to retreat for the time being as they can't afford to be caught; Corrin promises Xander and Ryoma to get them to someday understand his intentions.
Shortly thereafter, Azura states that the three of them have managed to escape but that they still have the Hoshidans and Nohrians on their trail, yet they can't leave things as they are at the moment as they'd be branded traitors by both kingdoms; Azura states that Corrin is going to have to pick a side, to which Corrin states that there's a third option--and he chooses not to support either side, as he can't side with his family on either side of the conflict even at the risk of losing everything. Azura states that Corrin would be risking a lot to accomplish something major, and reveals that her own mother died protecting Nohr yet didn't appear to regret her choice as she died protecting the ones she loved; Azura then vows to follow the path Corrin has chosen, to which Corrin thanks Azura. The intro cutscene to the Revelation campaign, "Valla Intro", plays at this point, followed by the tutorial and formal introduction to the My Castle concept.
