'''Tome''' (魔道書, ''magic book'') is a weapon type in the {{FES}} which debuted in {{FE1}}. Appearing only in five games - ''Ankoku Ryuu'', {{title|Monshou no Nazo}}, {{title|Shadow Dragon}}, {{title|Shin Monshou no Nazo}} and {{title|Kakusei}} - it is comprised of all offensive magic types present in the game, in contrast to how most other games split magic into multiple weapon types based on elemental affiliation. Under the unified tome type, any unit capable of wielding tomes can use all tomes of a certain rank equally, as opposed to only having access to a limited elemental set. After ''Monshou no Nazo'', the split magic types were introduced and appeared in all games until ''Shadow Dragon'', when the unified tome type was reimplemented and retained through to ''Kakusei''.

In {{title|Kakusei}}, there are some tomes which - while classified as tomes and maintained under the tome [[weapon rank]] - are considered [[Dark (magic)|dark magic]] and are locked exclusively to the [[Dark Mage]] and [[Sorcerer]].

'''Chalphy''' (シアルフィ) is one of the six duchies of the Kingdom of [[Grandbell]]. It is situated in the south of the country, to the east of [[Jungby]] and the west of [[Edda]], and is in close proximity to the coast of the Miletos Channel, across which lies [[Miletos]]. It was founded in the year 649, shortly after the fall of the [[Lopt Empire]], by [[Baldo]] of the [[Twelve Crusaders]] alongside Grandbell itself and its other duchies; its ruling family are his descendants and possess [[Holy Blood|his holy bloodline]], permitting them to use the divine blade [[Tyrhung]]. As with the other duchies, it had an elite squadron of knights led by the present duke, the Grüne Ritter.

When Grandbell went to war with [[Isaac]] in 757, current Duke [[Vylon]] and the Grüne Ritter departed with the Grandbellian army, leaving his son [[Sigurd]] behind with a scant few knights. Vylon acted as the right-hand man to Prince [[Kurth]]; but when Kurth was assassinated by [[Langobalt]] of [[Dozel]], Vylon was implicated in the crime and was captured, with the Grüne Ritter wiped out in the process. Meanwhile, after responding to an invasion threat from [[Verdane]], Sigurd spent a year preventing an [[Agustria]]n uprising before being himself implicated in the coup against Kurth, and was forced to flee to [[Silezha]]. It is uncertain what became of Chalphy after the [[Battle of Barhara]] and during the days of the Grandbell Empire under Emperor [[Alvis]]; Sigurd's son [[Serlis]] spent the following seventeen years in exile in [[Isaac]], along with [[Oifey]], a cousin of the Chalphy family and one of its knights. Eventually, Serlis's liberation army swept through Miletos to travel to Grandbell on its quest to end the Empire's tyranny, and Alvis used Chalphy as a defense point against the invasion. His efforts failed, and the rebel army reclaimed Chalphy before going on to defeat the rest of Grandbell; after the war, Oifey was appointed its Duke while Serlis became the new King of Grandbell.
